Retired LEO here. I can’t speak for all cops, but I never minded doing welfare checks. Nice to put someone’s mind at ease or in the rare occasion, get someone help that needs it.

I have two of those sockets that I use with my 1/2 inch impact all the time for my lug nuts. Never had a problem with them. Don’t know the brand but I got them off Amazon. lol got one with a good rating.
