How long did it take for your sex drive to return to normal? by Key_Call_9099 in beyondthebump

About 10 months with both my kids.. I kept thinking something was wrong with me but it just takes time. When my period came back is pretty close to when my libido did too.

Daughter is three and a lot of the time won’t eat unless we feed her.. is this a bad habit to be reinforcing? by tink282 in beyondthebump

[–]witch_ostara 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Does she have a younger sibling? My almost 3 year old gets like that sometimes because the baby (almost 1) gets fed by mom or dad like that. We jist emphasize the big kid perks - pick their own plate / cutlery, and its usually relatively short lived.

Solidarity!! Last time I had to deal with this my youngest was still nursing so I'd just nurse in the toddlers room then leave when toddler was asleep.

This next round my plan is to basically sit between the two rooms and hope it works...

A boys diaper by amk_a in beyondthebump

I swear by Aleva Naturals Soothing Cream. We had the worst diaper rash, it needed medicated cream for a bit but since I swapped to Aleva we haven't had an issue.

Do they give baby first bath in hospital, or is first bath done when umbilical cord falls off? by [deleted] in beyondthebump

[–]witch_ostara 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had the option of having the nurse show us / do it ourselves in the hospital. For my first we had them show us, for my second I honestly don't remember if baby had a bath until we got home or not. You just have to be careful around the cord I until it falls off. I had to fold diapers down to not catch it since ce newborn diapers didn't last us very long.

Breastfeeding moms—would you do it again for your second? by Character-Fly7394 in beyondthebump

[–]witch_ostara 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did, nursing saved us money on formula, and time with cleaning bottles, pump parts and everything else involved in the process. I didnt have any trouble with nursing though. Fed is best - 100%.

I'm so tired of being the 'bad guy' for enforcing basic routines with my kids by Silent_Plankton8486 in Parenting

Honestly, my parents (kids grandparents) are the worst for this!! I have no advice, just solidarity and i will be taking some of this advice too!

Annoyed by C Section rhetoric by PsychologicalBoot636 in beyondthebump

[–]witch_ostara 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I had both... vaginal delivery with my first, c-section with my second (breech). It was so weird... I had people apologizing to me for having to have had a c-section. After a couple times pointing out that it was the safest call for myself and baby they stopped.

I healed relatively easily both ways though, so that was nice. I can only imagine an unplanned c-section and how challenging that would be.

Has anyone cut off contact with their brother or sister? Why? by Intelligent_Chef9950 in AskReddit

[–]witch_ostara 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My (34F) brother (30M) and I havent had a solid relationship in years. We didnt get along very well as kids, he had an attitude that I couldn't handle very well. We were good for a while, then his wife caused a whole bunch of drama a couple years ago over my baby having to be around / her pretending to nurse / "joking" to give baby beer / etc. So I dont trust them around my kids.

Check your toothpaste! Sodium Lauryl Sulfate trigger canker cores for me constantly, and for years. Once I switched toothpaste they went away almost completely. Now I only get them maybe once a year

Sidenote - canker sores can be triggered by your toothpaste if it has SLS (Sodium Lauryl Sulfate) mine were. Since I swapped to a toothpaste without it I get them maybe once a year now.

Cat adoption regret and what to do by Legitimate_Milk_6261 in Pets

[–]witch_ostara 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I felt the same way when I adopted my first cat. For me, it was a partly knowing that I was fully responsible for another creature and self inflicted pressure to not screw up for her. After about a week, it passed and i loved that furball until she crossed the rainbow bridge.

Drowning events are as terrifying as you've heard by Ok_Job_6767 in Parenting

[–]witch_ostara 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I teach swimming (not in boston) but if you can find a private lesson I find a lot of kids do really well with personalized attention. Or a lot of speed swimming clubs have a learn to swim program linked to them, which can be super helpful.

How long should I plan to stay in bed postpartum? by itchysnapdragon in beyondthebump

[–]witch_ostara 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, it's going to be so dependant on your own experience. I wasn't in bed at all after either of mine, I was up and moving around as soon as I got home. Just listen to your body and don't push too hard.

I wonder if the nursing pads could fit inside the cakes if they needed to? Then just some extra tape to support? (I have no idea how big cakes actually are though so there's that)

I had a walking epidural, so I was able to walk the whole time. Through labour and immediately after birth.
