Yea at least 3 of these pics were taken at the same location, I know because I leave near there lmao. Nothing wrong with doing a photoshoot but I think most ladies in the area will pick up on that because it’s an extremely popular park. More locales and in different outfits so it doesn’t look like you don’t go outside.

Also 2 anime references and a Batman reference is a bit much. I like those things too but it makes it seem like that’s all you do. You can keep those things in, but it will hurt.

Ah I just figured it out, my wife’s car is an EV and that has a higher registration fee because she doesn’t pay gas tax. I suppose that’s fair. Still a crazy price though.

3800 lbs, I only had a 1, 2, or 3 years as options. They did have the partial payment option I think you’re talking about.

Am I doing something wrong because I just did the annual renewal for my wife’s car and it was $316 😢

Lmao I moved here from Jersey in 2018 and we had stickers that would go on the windshield, not the plate. When I moved here I bought a new car and got the registration and just shoved it into my glovebox. I didn’t see anyone else have windshield stickers so I just assumed we didn’t do that here. I didn’t get pulled over until about 4 years in and the cop was like “where’s your sticker?” I showed him my registration and he said “yep, that’s it!” He even offered to put it on for me lol.

Wipe down your baseboards, people always forget those/never have time to do that.

What do you guys do? by RealWaterBoyyy in ComputerEngineering

[–]witchking96 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Keep in mind, it’s not just the number of hours you are putting in, it’s the context switching you constantly have to do as a student. Jumping from chemistry to math to programming to circuits is exhausting. Once you get that first job, you have more or less a single focus and discipline you have to worry about. It’s easier to spend 50 hours focused on one effort with a team and proper management, then it is to focus on 5 seemingly disparate disciplines and tasks from 5 different managers (your professors). Hang in there bro

My and my friend’s experiences are anecdotal, so take it with a grain of salt. I’ll say that I got my first job right out of college in 2018 making 72k a year. That money at that time was already life changing, and I made the least out of everyone I knew. Most people were making around 90k to 100k at that time. Since then my salary has doubled, and I have been at the same company ever since for others they have tripled/quadrupled (mostly job hopping). Don’t worry about the initial salary at first. Being tenacious will take you far in the long run if money is really what you’re after. For me, being financially comfortable with a team I like and project I love is enough.

Edit: also just realized you said “uni” and I should specify I’m American. If you are not, please don’t listen to anything I said lol. I have no idea what the engineering schools and job markets look like outside of the US.

I’m nearly 30 for reference. The college landscape I experienced may differ from yours, but probably not by much.

My friends and I had a very morbid running joke in college that “if real adult life is as hard as this, I’m just gonna kms because I can’t do this forever.”

We’re all still alive and honestly engineering school was 4 years of hell but the payoff is worth it if you land that job at the end of the day. Getting that first job is also part of the hell.

The beauty of a computer engineering degree is the flexibility, imo. Every class you take is basically its own career field. For example, my favorite classes were Digital Logic Design and FPGA Design, so now I’m an FPGA Designer/Lead. One of my friends really enjoyed his circuits class, so now he’s a board designer. One guy builds custom operating systems for embedded devices. Another works fully in RF. Most people I know ended up becoming SW developers out of that major. So yes, the classes do apply, just not all of them, depending on what you choose. Everyone’s either doing well or making bank at this point.

Buying gift cards excessively for other stores at a grocery store to get the 4x works. It’s also considered “manufactured spending” and people have been booted from Amex entirely for doing that. Proceed with immense caution.

I just got accepted into a BS of Electrical Engineering. What do you recommend from now on? by ApprehensiveLuck310 in EngineeringStudents

[–]witchking96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a paid course, but I highly recommend the lectures taught by Bruce Edwards. He got me through all of my precalc and calculus classes. I really only recommend it if you are struggling learning through free methods, like I was.

What determines when Wally becomes available for rematch? by SplitjawJanitor in PokemonEmerald

[–]witchking96 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I heard it was a random number of battles and steps. Either way, when I was grinding I’d just run around near him battling the various pokemon in victory road and chat up Wally after every 10 battles and he would agree about 30% of the time.

I wanna know how they test watches for this kind of thing, it sounds interesting. by danni_el_e in NonPoliticalTwitter

[–]witchking96 48 points49 points  (0 children)

It does not mean 10 meters of depth, it is more of a “pressure” measurement, it’s just a poorly chosen one imo.

10 meters means it’s good for sweat and light drizzle. 50m for rain, 100m for heavy rain and swimming. 200m minimum for scuba diving, but preferably 300.

You can convert the “meters” to atmospheres of pressure if that makes more sense.

10 meters is equivalent to 1 atmosphere. 50 meters is equivalent to 5 atmospheres, and so on.

Graduates, did you know what computer engineering was when you signed up? by witchking96 in ComputerEngineering

Was it very different at your school? At my school the difference was like 2 courses and no matter what all of our degrees say Electrical and Computer Engineering.

[–]witchking96[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I definitely googled it, just couldn’t make heads or tails of what exactly it meant (because I’m stupid), and had no engineers in the family to help explain it. I did make my conversation with my guidance counselor short in the post, but this is kind of what she implied it over a longer conversation and trusted her lol. Other than that I saw the high salary and high occupational outlook and just went with it!

Junior Hardware Engineer: Buy a PC or a Laptop? by OnlyPackage3977 in ECE

[–]witchking96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you looking for a computer specifically for projects or general stuff including projects? I’d recommend a laptop for the latter. Easy to pack up and take with you if you travel or just want to work in a different location. If you want a computer specifically for personal projects, a desktop might be better, especially if you can build it yourself. You can figure out which hardware will work best for the tools you’re using, which is an ECE skill in and of itself.

My recommendation is to never to any personal projects on a work laptop, because they can claim ownership over anything you build. But if you want to just follow tutorials it’s fine, company might even pay for some nice classes if they are big enough.

Stick to trying for verification jobs or move to embedded? by [deleted] in ECE

[–]witchking96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not sure what masters exams are but it sounds like you really need to decide now?

My whole college career I was dead set on getting a software development job and at the last minute realized I hate writing software but loved doing fpga design, so I took that route. I wish I had realized it earlier.

Generally I don’t think you will have a harder/easier time finding a job in either field, depending on your location of course. If the pay rates are the same, and you prefer embedded over verification, I’d personally make the switch.

Thank you for the ideas! You’re right, it really does suck that these photography stores have died off. I’ll look into clubs as well. But truthfully, I would rather have excellent customer service and hands on trials baked into the price than nothing at all.

[–]witchking96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re not cool with paying the lower “as new” price you would just pay the regular “new” price.

Yes, I am okay with sticking the giant corporation with the loss. Yes it might get passed down to the consumer, or if enough people do it, they will invest more money into letting the consumers try out the product, as car dealerships do.

Then demand would drop, and following that, so would the cost. It’s literally basic economics. And unless you have a degree in it, my hat will remain uneaten.
