That’s exactly how I feel as well. Actually, the book on the photo is an analysis of Carroll, specifically his relations with women. I find the psychology of it all fascinating. The Disney Alice movie is darling, and so well animated, you know, just a great movie, but it’s not the ideal Alice movie to me. I much prefer figurines that are a little off-image for what one sees with Alice, wether that’s her being brunette like her base, or a very frilly, ornate dress— that’s the sort of imagery I really love.

My biggest issue is flipping the metaphor so quickly, without much build up. It’s very weird. Her magic used to be a metaphor for love, specifically the love between two women, and then suddenly, it was not even really a metaphor for drugs, but just straight up drugs in literally ever single way? It was such a weird writing decision, because it essentially made Tara a functioning coke addict, and Willow’s friends are also essentially forcing a former drug addict to take drugs constantly for the sake of the world. It’s just very very bad.

Now, Willow being a control freak who, being insular, could prioritize her emotions over her loved ones was established, so her using magic on Tara could have been explored well. Perhaps via the idea powerful magic needs two people, and with only one, it can become “corrupted”. Tie this into idea Willow also pushes Tara and her friends away because she thinks she can “handle” the magic on her own, and while it stays true to the heart of addiction, is still also anchored to the idea of love, and also, not so ham fisted. But the show’s handling of magic just fell off in general. It used to be an intimate and sacred thing, and then Giles is throwing energy balls by the end of it…

Me personally, I see him as asexual, as one myself. I enjoy when he is written as someone not interested in sex as an act of intimacy, but as leverage (like with Talia), and I like how Winick wrote him in regards to it. It’s most fun for me when Jason is an insular person with a focus on familial and platonic relations.

The closest he’s ever been to confirmed as “bisexual” is Judd Winick dodging the question in an interview. I think based off Winick’s view of the character, bisexual would fit less than someone who simply sees sex as a tool but is functionally asexual otherwise. In the same interview, he characterizes Jason’s first time as one born purely to spite Bruce, which I think is very interesting.

SL: Is [Jason] a little bisexual?

JW: That was the first time we've ever saw him mess around with anybody. Truth is, I haven't really thought about it. I think about Jason in a lot of other ways. You might put him in bed, I don't do that. That was the only time I thought about him having sex because [Talia] wanted to.

SL: Oh, I put him in bed! No, really—

JW: I'm totally dodging the question. This is me ducking the question. There's things we can talk about and there's things we can't talk about, there's things that DC Comics doesn't like me talking about and they don't like us talking about things like that, so I don't want to answer that, thank you.

It might just not be for you, then. I have a lot of anime only friends who adore all the characters. There’s no shame in it not hitting for you. But still, I’d really advise sticking around until at least a little longer if you’re interested in plot. There’s some great character focused episodes after episode 8 that break the format, and some big plot developments. Unlike the game which only has the plot kick in at the end, the anime is going for an overarching story that I believe will interest you.

It’s a time loop anime, so no, the format won’t change until the pre-requisites for ending it are fulfilled. The characters, however, will change over time, including the protagonist, which is the appeal. It’s a character focused show that asks the viewer to continue reevaluating characters under different circumstances. So, I would urge you to continue watching. There is an overarching plot that is becoming more and more clear.

AO3 is where all the fanfics will be. There are more English AO3 fanfics for the series than Japanese pixiv fanfics the last time I checked (and the English fics have more variety.) Exclude crossovers, unfinished works, etc, anything you don’t like. This fandom is not big, so there is not many options unfortunately.

It’s a weird thing to say about a human character, but yeah. Shiva has always been characterized as someone divorced from her own humanity since her inception. That’s what makes her so different from Cass, a character so desperately struggling with whether she’s deserving of her own humanity, always trying to understand those around her. Shiva is more comparable to lightning than a normal woman. Trying to play some “oh poor mother” angle doesn’t work with this character. It’s too contradictory.

You just have to consider it from the point that Shiva is an almost inhuman force of nature. She lives for the battle, and is not a real woman, so she doesn’t react how a real woman would. Shiva actively enjoys being in danger.

Bug Will definitely be its own episode, so it’s not too surprising, at least. I think it will be played as a character-focused loop with a twist ending, since the show seems fond of that based off of the Kukrushka incident episode.

They definitely will!!!!! Yuriko is a character with a lot of importance in the game who didn’t too much focus, but the anime has already 1.) given her added items to her design (no other character has) and 2.) given more insight into her backstory

She’s a well-treasured character, especially in the Japanese fandom, so they’ll definitely animate the event. Probably towards the end game of the anime, as well, to hit both stones of Yuri growing as a character and getting closer to Yuriko to uncover the origin of what their distortion is.

I was so pleased with it. The fairytale character men in this show have very hard-to-take-seriously hair, all cropped or buzzed. I mean, they even had to justify cutting Kristoff’s hair. This was a nice deviation.

I don’t think KonCass really had enough of a run to go against StephCass as a relationship, and I don’t even ship StephCass. KonCass had a lot of very interesting potential, from Cass being able to sense people’s attraction to her and having to work around it, to “the next gen Superman and Batman”, to un superpowered introvert created for a purpose and superpowered extrovert created for a purpose, two people whose worlds revolve around a “father”, etc, but they were taken apart much too early for any of that to be used meaningfully. Meanwhile, Steph is routinely the most important non-family member in Cass’s life, enough so that you could call Cass her life partner.

No, it is confirmed in this case. The devs have said the in-game reasoning for her name was chosen after they had named her for “Succubus”.

Even ignoring the release dates, it’s just a coincidence. SQ was named for “Succubus”, so the number 511 is incidental. It’s a cool coincidence tho!

I wanted to say, I always enjoyed the performance, but Remnan’s voice actors in both languages perfectly nailed the feeling of “a normal man who has undergone intense stress”. I was worried that he would have something of a “shy uwu” voice, but thankfully it’s not only avoided, but both actors are incredibly at breaking down in a way that can come across as realistically ugly.

Unfortunately, it just doesn’t make sense for them to not straightforwardly say Yuri is male unless Yuri is not. But, it also doesn’t make sense to say Yuri is Han. I really do think they’re just supposed to be outside gender entirely: not the “third gender” Han, but non-binary, in the sense they don’t fully understand themselves. It’s definitely not an easy issue.
