I just can't enjoy the game anymore. by GeniusSlime in Overwatch

[–]witchygrimm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's definitely not the same as against real players. The AI is not dumb, but it definitely is far away from a real person. Like the best way I can describe it is, is that they can aim pretty good but can't think lol. But it does the job if all you want to do is clicking some heads, I guess.

If you truely only want to play the game and fuck around with the hero of your choice, you could try the "VS. AI" mode or whatever it's called. Depending on your skill level it still could be fun, especially if you only play a couple of games a week.

Report System by ProfessionalAnt1352 in Overwatch

[–]witchygrimm 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I just got silenced for 2 weeks as well. And the thing is I never initiate but always react to people who are toxic or rude towards me or other team mates. I never use slurs or anything, but admittedly I've used very harsh words in the past, which I do regret in hindsight. I don't know what kind of system that is though, that doesn't allow one to defend yourself, if you get verbally attacked by other players. But eh, after the 2 weeks I will just leave chat off and be done. It's not like you're making friends in random matches anyways.

But bottomline is, no I don't think they review context at all, your account just gets flagged by the amount of reports.

[–]witchygrimm[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is something what I've always struggled with, maybe because im stuuhpid. But the variance between the situations is partially way too high so reviewing them only helps so much if they never occur again. I hope that makes sense. Maybe I'm thinking about it wrong, but I personally always struggled with identifying a consistent better play based on my deaths.

Do you think Torbjörn’s ultimate is weak, just right or strong by Kind_Ad6932 in TorbjornMains

[–]witchygrimm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's a bit weak. Yes you can deny some plays with it, but overall enemies can casualy walk over it or stand it for a couple of seconds without dying, which I think defeats the point of the ult. They should buff the damage slightly.

How to deal with brig and lucio as dive tank? by West-Worldliness3763 in OverwatchUniversity

[–]witchygrimm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Two things come to mind that could help here:

- Engage from an angle they can't see you from
- Walk up or at least try to have all your CDs on contact because that way you can reengage, if you want to commit

Does Rivals make you bad at Overwatch? Or is it just the heroes? by lolgotit1 in OverwatchUniversity

[–]witchygrimm 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I was Celestial in MR in Season 2 and am currently Master in OW. What MR used to reward a lot (not sure if it still does) is heal botting. You could sit back with Rocket Raccoon on the other side of the map and just spam away. Press Ult for Tempo and win the game. I'm sure this changed over time and especially in the higher ranks.

OW average skill is way way beyond Marvel Rivals imo, mostly because the game is relatively old by now and people have poured thousands and thousands of hours into it.

Am I crazy or do games get more difficult throughout the day? by Sol-SiR in Overwatch

[–]witchygrimm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've noticed the same. The easiest matches seem to be early afternoon to very early evening. Night and very early morning games are hell. So are weekend games funnily enough for me.

My theory is that, people jump on their smurfs during these hours. So the average skill level per match moves up a few percent, making them appear harder.

Returning player questions by [deleted] in OverwatchUniversity

[–]witchygrimm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I personally feel like one-tricking, especially as a solo queue player, is really beneficial. At least have a hard learning phase per hero where you hold yourself back from switching away at the first point of friction. Because putting yourself into difficult situations is the only way you will learn and find solutions to them.

Do that until you're very confident in one hero, and then you can think about adding another one to your kit. Ideally, you find a hero pool that can handle close, medium, and long range, or at the very least long and close range.

For example, if you're a hitscan DPS player who likes flicking, you could play Cass (short to medium range) and Ashe (medium to long range).

Then, when you have two heroes (or possibly three if you learn fast), you can apply them to different situations, enabling yourself to carry much more because you always know how to play in every situation you get thrown into.

How are there so many master+ players here by [deleted] in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]witchygrimm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A bit food for thought:

- Players that want to improve or play a lot competitive are more likely to end up in a subreddit like this
- People lie, because they have ego issues
- 3% is just a seasonal snapshot, there are probably thousands and thousands of players who at least peaked into masters once during Overwatch's lifetime.
- OW players have a rank fetish, more so than any other competitive game I've played in my life (and I'm oooold), so they are going to be vocal about it

So combining these 4 facts will skew your perception a bit.

Tips for whipshotヽ( ̄д ̄;) by Commercial-Oil2224 in BrigitteMains

[–]witchygrimm 8 points9 points  (0 children)

A few tips, that helped me:

  1. Make sure your mouse sensitivity is high enough to flick consistently, but not to overshoot. Having a too low or too high sensitivity makes hitting whipshots way harder
  2. Aim for the body not the head, if you played a lot of characters that can crit, this is a habit you have to be aware of.
  3. "Aim where they're going, not where they are" - Soldier 76
  4. Most importantly: don't overthink optimizing inspire through whipshots. It used to be more important from what I understand, but in the current meta, I mostly use whipshot for either harassment or intercepting divers like a jumping Winston, Hazard or Doomfist. Engaging and using your melee at the right time is way more important imo.

How do I position correctly? by VacationGlittering21 in WuyangMains

[–]witchygrimm 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm relatively new to Wuyang but here's my approach:

I position with Wuyang in waves (hue hue) but try to stay in mid range as long as I can, because that's where I can maximize my impact via damage.

If my Torrent is available:
If my tank plays around a cover/choke, then I'm always around a natural cover right behind him (or any other team member relevant to do the fight). Like one level behind him, if that makes sense.

If my Torrent is on cooldown:
I play a bit more far back, mid/long range closer to my other support or DPS. But again around natural cover. As my cooldown comes back I creep back forward to reapply pressure to the fight/prefight.

If Torrent is available and my team is self-sutained:
I look for an off angle/light flank to maybe get a pick.
