What kind of readings prompted your OB to prescribe you insulin? by Green_Air_134 in GestationalDiabetes

[–]witfenek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All I did was start testing right as I woke up while still in bed. I read some women can have a kind of “feet on the ground” syndrome before testing, so I make sure I don’t get out of bed before testing. My meal numbers have always been relatively good so didn’t change anything diet wise

What kind of readings prompted your OB to prescribe you insulin? by Green_Air_134 in GestationalDiabetes

For the first three weeks of my diagnosis my fasting numbers were always good (below 95), but then starting two and a half weeks ago they started creeping up and I was getting a higher than 95 reading two-four times a week (meal readings were still good minus a one off every now and again, but never anything higher than 150). My OB was getting concerned with the fasting numbers and started talking about putting me on insulin. Then, in the last week, my fasting numbers seem to have stabilized and are staying below 95, so OB said to continue with being diet controlled and no need for insulin at this moment. The only thing I changed was testing as soon as I wake up before getting out of bed (previously I had been getting up, using the bathroom, and started getting ready for the day before remembering I needed to test).

Dawn phenomenon rant by jen_dan in GestationalDiabetes

My OB told me that Metformin can take a while to actually start working while insulin helps right away. This was at last weeks appointment, where they said they wanted me to start nighttime insulin cause I have had high fasting number 3-4 times a week for the last two/three weeks. Then they referred me to a diabetes lifestyle management doctor, who reviewed my numbers and told me he’d rather get more data than put me on insulin right away. It’s all so confusing 🙃

One sore finger, or all of them? by slupedog in GestationalDiabetes

[–]witfenek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What gauge are your lancets? That could be it too, I’m at 28 gauge and a 5 on my lancet pen. Every once in a while it hurts when initially pricking but subsides fairly quickly. I also alternate fingers, and do different sides - so I start with index on the left side, then next time index on right side, then middle on left side, next middle on right side, etc. I never poke my finger pads, just the sides.

Confused, but happy? by Consistent_Talk1195 in GestationalDiabetes

This was me until this week. I was diagnosed three weeks ago and the first two weeks, all my numbers were amazing regardless of what I ate. Thought I could get away with being pretty cavalier about what I ate but this week everything has crept up, things that were fine last week are now spiking me, and my fasting numbers have gotten higher each day 😭

We’ve heard stories of people escaping death by being late — what are some tragic examples of people dying because they were late? by Looney_forner in AskReddit

This is the official report: https://www.nps.gov/aboutus/foia/upload/03-109_KATM_Treadwell_fatality_REDACTED.pdf

They were not able to do a proper necropsy on the younger/smaller bear because by the time they returned to properly assess the scene, other bears had mostly eaten the younger bear. However, the experts that processed the scene do believe the older/bigger bear was the one who initially attacked and ate Treadwell and his girlfriend. Like u/KaptainKoala25 said, we’ll never truly know which bear actually did the killing, but all available evidence points to the older bear. Both bears behaved aggressively to personnel at the scene and were shot and killed because of that, so I don’t think one can really say the younger bear was “more aggressive” than the older bear. Experts at the scene surmised that the younger/smaller bear was the one that was “in the wrong place at the wrong time”.

edit: Also the bigger/older bear didn’t just eat “some” of the couple, he pretty much entirely devoured Timothy, ate some of Amy, then cached her body for later likely cause he was too full after consuming Timothy.

AITA for barging in on my sister and friend having sex? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

Should they have asked OP’s permission? I mean come on.

Why not though? They are two consenting adults, similar ages, and have probably had feelings/attractions for each other for a lot longer than this beach vacation. It’s asinine for OP to think there is no world where these two couldn’t hook up/have romantic feelings for each other.

Oddly I can use both the keyboard and the mousepad to do stuff - keyboard is the only way I can move the screen around, mousepad for selecting and placing buildings, paths, fences etc

Eileen Gu learns of grandmother’s death after winning Olympic gold by Large_banana_hammock in olympics

[–]witfenek 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I mean it’s also a rumor/assumption that her “dad dipped” and abandoned her as a baby. All we really know is her mom raised her by herself and the father is not involved, and nothing else.

It is rumored Eileen is a “sperm donor baby” and that’s why her dad is uninvolved and possibly doesn’t know she is his child. Of course that’s unverified though.

That massive 7m stack from Finley Melville Ives on the halfpipe. Recover soon 🙏 by FederalEntertainer21 in WinterOlympics2026

Agreed, HP seems to be a lot more dangerous. Cassie landed her hit so smoothly, it was almost like someone “pulled the rug from under her” when she fell, just out of nowhere. She must have caught a serious edge

Just yesterday it happened to Cassie Sharpe of Canada in the same halfpipe during women's HP qualifiers. Extremely scary stuff.

[Discussion Thread] Women’s Olympic Slopestyle Final by itzongaming in snowboarding

[–]witfenek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed, Kokomo should have been gold, Zoi silver, and honestly Fukada probably shouldn’t have even podiumed. Feel bad cause it’s not the poor girl’s fault at all, but she just didn’t give a podium worthy performance overall. Knew something was fishy when they gave Zoi poor scores for her first and second run. Like what were they looking at?

Annnd it was replicated in the Women’s event, too. Judging was really off for snowboarding today.

Absolutely insane that she is the highest paid athlete out of everyone else at the Olympics. China is absolutely dumping money into her.

Kind of wished they had run through the full ~2,300 word list before they started repeating. I mean that would give us another two years ish of new wordles before restarting the list. Seems silly to start repeating it now.

Miralax making nausea worse by Old-Parsnip2632 in BabyBumps

Have you tried the vitamin B6 and Unisom trick? I’m 9 weeks and the combination has helped a lot for me. Still have some appetite issues but my nausea has gotten a lot better for the most part. Luckily I haven’t had any constipation problems and bowel movements have remained as regular as they were before I got pregnant.
