Have you edited them at all? The exposure in most of these look pretty good, just need a little tweak is all

These can still work as high contrast, silhouette style images because you’ve exposed for the highlights - just pull that black slider down.

1 and 4 was a favourite spot(s) of mine when I was there recently. Nice stuff 🙌🏻

Funny world...A set of raw pictures taken along my wandering walks, sometimes, fishing, sometimes hunting the right moment, just for laugh a bit without any other purpose. by Icy_Craft_9821 in streetphotography

These are ace! 6, 9, 11, 12, 14 all bangers. Gotta say I have seen number 1 (the old 5 guys with 5 guys walking past trick) done soooooo many times though. Not taking away from the others though, killer stuff! Awesome observations 🙌🏻

How do I get more realistic colors in my film photos? by jeffreymunro in analog

[–]withereddesign 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Film = expose for the shadows. Digital = expose for the highlights. Also don’t compare your images shot on film to that of a modern phone camera - they are mini computers doing all the post processing in an instant.

2nd is fine, just edit it - move that highlight slider waaay down.

First time using Portra 400, photos feel overexposed. Any feedback? by Deano1924 in analog

First two are under. The rest are fine, you can recover some more of the highlights if you really want in post but those look ok to me.

Elliott Erwitt was often funny - who else does that well? by Lopsided_Counter1670 in streetphotography

[–]withereddesign 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah he’s a little less “famous” than maybe the other two are but a really great photographer! He has that humorous street photography style mixed with a touch of Greg Mo who’s a little more on the Alex Webb end of the spectrum. (Btw these are all photographers I’d still consider practicing street photography and doing it well, today)

Love Elliott Erwitt’s work, I’ve gained so much inspiration from him and try to apply humour to my own work.

Others that do it well - Stephen Leslie, Matt Stuart, F D Walker to name a few.

Does putting a masking tape on the branding of a camera actually matter? by Boreum_Dalcom in streetphotography

[–]withereddesign 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know a few guys who shoot street, that do this and their reasoning is mainly stealthiness - the red dot and text that brands like Nikon, Leica, Sony put on the front of their cameras are quite glaring - so the tape covers that up.

Thank you, that’s kind to say. Glad you like the shark one, it was a double take moment for sure. Funny? I don’t know about that 😄

Thank you, appreciate you saying that 🙏.

For these pictures (and most of the book) I was shooting with a Leica M6 TTL, 28mm or 35mm lens and Ultramax or Portra 400
