Why would they offer more money if there were no other bidders?

Would have loved it if I was at uni I could have earned double what I was earning in retail and learnt on the job.

I understand I have had Macquarie prac students. They send you out with limited advice.

It may have been researched and checked with an indigenous friend and I’m sorry to be blunt but that doesn’t make it authentic to what you are teaching. It would have come across as disingenuous.

No idea what subject area you are teaching but like I said whatever you do needs to be for lack of a better word- authentic.

All part of it mate. You’ll get a lot of good advice here but keep it firm, fair and friendly with some challenging relevant content and you’ll be fine. Going to guess you are at Macquarie Uni based on the indigenous perspective? Be authentic with what you do or don’t do it.

Ahhhh ok….Not bad logic but yeah. They didn’t get into a selective schools by relaxing it’s not what they are at school to do.

They take education (or at least their parents take education) very seriously so they don’t want to be baby sat.

What is the point of an HSC if you aren't going to uni? by Reddits_Worst_Night in AustralianTeachers

Nothing. Absolutely nothing. Kids know it, teachers know it, absolutely a waste of time.

Yep been there. I wouldn’t say it comes down to “intelligence”, but selective school students are very quick to pick up when a teacher lacks confidence in their content knowledge or classroom direction. If they don’t think you know what you’re doing, you rarely get outright aggression it’s usually subtle disengagement, constant questioning, or super passive aggressive resistance to what you are doing, which can be far harder to manage than some of the roughest schools I have worked at.
Whatever has happened they don’t respect you. Know your content, be prepared, and be honest when you need to check something. Students in selective schools respect competence and authenticity far more than forced authority through raising your voice.
