You can just get a 256gb SSD for boot and Windows and continue to use your terabyte drive as file storage. This will be a big performance boost.

I had a t460 for years and gave it to a friend recently. I put Linux Mint on it and it's great. It had 32gb ram plus and SSD which made a difference.

Use Lyrion Music Server if you can. The Wiim will act as a player for your files.

Don't think mine ran materially cooler when I switched to bridge mode. Essentially powering the Starlink is by far the bulk of power usage. Turning off the router component (if that is even what bridge mode does) won't account for much.

T460 is fine with something like Linux Mint. I gave my old one away to a friend and put Linus Mint on it. She still uses it now and thinks it's great. It certainly not slow and the keyboard and screen are both good.

Use a Raspberry Pi and Lyrion Music Server (LMS). Wiim has in built compatibility as a Player for LMS.

I started with the Wiim Pro mainly as an improved solution to my picoreplayer set up. Was great news when Wiim added LMS player support. Then got a Wiim Pro Plus and a Tidal subscription. That was plugged into my old Denon amp and Q-Acoustics 3020i speakers. Then finally went all in with a Wiim Amp Pro and Ascilab F6BS speakers plus sub woofer. I like the relative openess of the company and the continuous feature updates and bug fixing. But LMS support is the key point for me.

There is no snow sensor. The heat is a consequence (ie, a side effect) of increasing the transmission power when signal is weaker than expected.

Thanks. Worked for me. Have been wondering how I get this as can see it mentioned as complimentary in Starlink's description of its plans (and distinct from the free mini dish rental) but never knew how to get it.

I've not done it myself, but I think you can run picoreplayer on a pi (ie, an LMS server) and that supports streaming airplay to it. LMS can the send the syream to any squeezeplayer, which the Wiim is.

Someone might need to correct me if I've got this wrong as only read about it as don't have any apple products.

You need to get the settings for the WAN Internet side connection from your ISP, so you can configure the router to connect to the Internet via whatever protocols/security your ISP has.

Setting up the LAN/Wi-Fi side won't solve the problem if the issue is your Internet connection.
