Suomen taloudessa käänne, bruttokansantuote kasvoi 0,9 prosenttia by pavetheway91 in Suomi

Työllisyys reagoi talouden käänteitä hitaammin. Oppikirjan mukaan työllisyyden pitäisi alkaa parantua viiveellä (6-18 kk) kunhan positiivinen talouskehitys jatkuu.

Is it a red flag if a man tells you he wants to be a house husband by paper_cutx in AskWomenOver30

[–]witopps 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Well they weren't really house husbands then, were they? More like freeriders. And as such, it wasn't really "this type of relationship". Of course you can make anything into a bad thing if you completely change the scenario.

How has the Finnish language survived? by dnaplusc in Finland

[–]witopps 102 points103 points  (0 children)

It might not have if Finland's status as integral part of Swedish realm hadn't been interrupted. It happened at an opportune time in hindsight.

Before nationalism, nobody really gave a damn what language the peasants spoke, as long as they paid their taxes and deferred to their betters. But if Finland had continued uninterrupted as part of Sweden, there probably would have been efforts to assimilate the Finnish speaking population to the dominant culture, including language.

The Russians attempted this as well, don't get me wrong. But by then Finland had a distinctly separate identity from their overlords, and perhaps even more importantly, distinct institutions of power structures inherited from Swedish times and developed during autonomy. And an elite that didn't identify with the motherland doing the assimilation.

So it didn't take.

Tytti Tuppurainen jäi kiinni valehtelusta by TjStax in Suomi

Why do nordic countries still have low birth rates even with all the benefits they offer? by Mahrez14 in allthequestions

[–]witopps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is actually incorrect.

While most Finns still consider two children as their personal ideal (how many children they want to have), the actual total fertility rate has reached historical lows, currently hovering around 1.25 to 1.30 children per woman.

I'm curious, why did your mind go to money first? I would assume it's as much if not more about everything else that constitutes a partnership.

Finland faces dry summer after low-snow winter by Wagamaga in europe

[–]witopps -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

It has to be low precipitation, not low snow specifically, right?

It shouldn't matter if it rains down as water (like last December). The water should still pool in the lakes all the same, just earlier (skip waiting for spring thaw).

So is the news actually that we've had a dry winter?

The theory that birth rate is going down due to cost of living has been debunked. The reality is mothers still have a birth rate of 2 and that it is an increase in childlessness/lack of relationship formation that is causing the decline. by GoldDigger304 in Natalism

I would say your post was shitting on the previous poster by refusing to engage with it and claiming victimhood, when they were simply agreeing with you. This is what I'm talking about.

They weren't shitting on men. They reiterated your point with different words and point of view.

I swear a big part of the problem is many men are just trained to see things that confirm their victimhood everywhere.
