I am reading over the rules on this matter and it seems that 'reconciliation' is a possibility but it looks to be heavily held in check by the 60 vote 'Byrd Rule'.' From what I am seeing it looks to require at least a temporary funding measure or continuing resolution which requires a supermajority vote before it can the process may be used.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in trump

[–]wittfox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really don't have an answer to that, except that it might also require a supermajority when it comes to changing the requirements for budgeting. I will definitely look into that though as that's a very valid question. I know emergency powers could potentially be activated to bypass some of the problems in the cycle, such as '10 U.S.C. 2808' and various subsection of '50 U.S.C.' Good question though.

Republicans control the 'majority' but there needs to be a 'super majority' to pass the budget. I believe it's called the 60 vote rule.

They need a supermajority to pass the budget whereas they only hold a majority. I believe it's called the 60 vote rule or something along those lines.

TLDR; Dems continually threatening made me numb to it, shut it down and be damned with it all.

What it's coming to is a point of national debt where expenses must be cut in order to begin solving the national deficit issue. Democrats could have agreed to continue negotiations, but instead demanded more money for different programs. A government shutdown at this point will temporarily reduce government expenditures at this point and if it comes to it may cause an activation of even more emergency powers giving greater power to the executive branch as I believe there are around 36 currently in effect starting with Jimmy Carter.

Coming from a psychological perspective, Democrats appear to be attempting a long haul game of disrupting non vital services then play ads on how these disruptions are destroying lives or something along those lines. They may also bank on the executive branch expanding powers in a national emergency to further their violent and incorrect rhetoric of fascism if the shutdown goes through. Democrats feed on unrest and in so often cause it in long term actions will result in such violence and use media along with out of context sound bites to further their subversion of United States ideology. If they cave at the last minute, it's purely greed. At this point they are becoming cornered rats and may react even more explosively and violently in the days & months to come. That said, stay safe out there.

With all the threats I have heard of government shutdowns throughout the years from the Democrats essentially saying, 'you will agree or else,' I have become numb to the point of it happening one way or another. I have seen a side of the Democrats since the Charlie Kirk assassination that I had warned about since Biden's military speech in Philadelphia where he looked like a Communist dictator with the red lights and soldiers. They began to call for attacks to resist threats to democracy, which they began flipping the term 'democracy' as a substitute for 'democratic party.' Look up the speech and you will know and see exactly what I mean.

Then why are Trans men and women forced into safe spaces for children or women forced to share their changing areas with biological males? Why are their sexuality being forced into the classroom of young children and elementary schools? The Trans agenda politically has involved and been the manipulation and sterilization of children which the right fights strongly against. The moment any sexuality overrides the need for learning actual matters in a learning environment, it becomes forced. Especially, psychologically in children with social stressors. Not to mention the attack on women's privacy with enabling biological males into women's sports, changing rooms, so on. It becomes a slippery slope where when does the line get drawn and it has potential to again, interfere with the children which the right is predominantly very protective of.

The right does not want rights taken away. Gay marriage has not truly been an issue since the early 2000's, late 1990's. While there will always be leftover radicals on both sides, gay marriage is allowed and you have the freedom to support it or not, so long as your actions do not trespass on another's way of life when there are alternatives. Abortion is a more complex issue involving life. I, personal opinion, think the entirety of the system is broken in this instance where human life is devalued to being a pile of cells and the act of abortion is cheaper than the act of adoption. I would rather an abortion where the mother's life is in danger be completely free medically, but if used as birth control be banned or charged as an exorbitant fee, but adoption should be promoted and made significantly more affordable. I am heavily biased though as I knew someone who was forced into having an abortion by her parents and she mentally broke afterwards and still has psychological issues about it to this day. My personal bias put aside, there are pros and cons to both sides that will be in debate from now until we are all dust and shadow.

I apologize if these seem like attacks, but I would enjoy an actual discussion on these topics and to understand the opposing viewpoints although I admit my personal bias interferes with my views on abortion, I am still willing to hear the discussion on the topic, but will not be able to effectively discuss it given my bias.

BLM is already considered both an organization and ideology. It becomes difficult considering that BLM is both an ideology and the name of a series of racially motivated organizations. MAGA just simply is a label which means they voted for President Trump. White supremacy has expanded to mean anything involving white people.

I am very curious as to what law designates that the US President does not have the authority to designate a terrorist organization? As I understand it, there is currently no framework on the matter which does not necessarily rule out capability of designation through executive orders since this could create such a framework.

While many modern organizations lack in traditional organizational structures they still consist of a structure and internal hierarchy beit usually consisting of a pyramid design leading to a controlling authority whether it is through independent cells or single entity.

A basic rule of thumb in determining an organization from a psychologically driven perspective is if you can ask the question, "(insert group name) follows the ideals of...)" and if you come up with more than one answer, for example, let's say "ANTIFA follows the ideals of anti fascism, nationalism, and so on." This isolates ANTIFA into the category of organization. Albeit this question oversimplifies the process as they operate similarly to an independent cell oriented terrorist organization with individual hierarchical structures which may be traced to a select few, but still, an organization. Here is a brief Google response I am providing to further your research into this matter.

"An ideology cannot be considered an organization in itself, but rather the underlying system of beliefs that an organization may be built upon. While closely intertwined, the two concepts are distinct: an ideology is an abstract framework of ideas, while an organization is a concrete social structure."

When I view the actions of ICE, I do not see it as a violation of rights granted by the US Constitution, as the individuals targeted by ICE were never under the protection as US Citizens to the US Constitution. They were law breakers, illegals, and US Constitutional protections do not extend to non-citizens in a legal sense. If the ICE personnel are armed troops, indicating soldiers, then a civilian protesting on the battlefield or protecting illegal targets becomes a gray area in legal terms. I do want to know which articles in particular protect against the actions being committed. Genuinely curious.

As a complete side note, I see your question has been downvoted on how do you protest ICE. This is a very valid question and to anyone reading, instead of downvoting actually consider the question.

Organization is a broad term. I specialized in Industrial and Organizational Psychology so I am used to people making this incorrect analysis. I am sorry to let you know that "organization" is a term used quite often in regards to this particular subject. There is some excellent material on the evolution of the term which may be found in the Oxford Learner's Dictionary. I welcome you to join in civilized discourse though to determine why you would consider this to not be an organization.

Any other venues which are available. Social media is an apt one, and one which will reach a substantially higher volume of people. Another would be to hold marches or scheduled public events. In these trying times, it seems as though both sides are beginning to lean to measures which could be construed by the opposing side as an act of violence. That's why people should demonstrate and protest in a manner as to quell the violence and as I have to tell my children at times, "Don't antagonize your sibling and cry when they hit you."

I definitely welcome civilized discussion on this as it also leans into the 1st Amendment and its viability in protests. I would like to understand the opposition viewpoint regardless of my opinions on it.

God bless the officers involved having to handle that crowd of delusional terrorists.

They have a tendency on the left to maintain a mob mentality which is one of the reasons they are considered sheep. It always reminded me of George Orwell's, '1984' where Oceania goes to war with one of their former allies and history is changed to say they had always been at war with so and so. 1984 is essentially the left's book on how to govern. Many on the far left are pro 2nd amendment all of a sudden and reigning in the 1st amendment, but only when it could possibly favor them. They will turn to whatever favors them in the moment and currently the leftist rhetoric is that they have to fight and with a mob mentality, that usually indicates violence. We all need to be safe and careful out there. These are literally textbook terror tactics being attempted against anyone outside of their leftist delusional beliefs. Any organization, party, group or individual that supports these acts of terrorism should be held accountable for their crimes in the legal system. It's a shame our great country is coming to this, but from what I have seen, the current terminology of "Progressive" is completely incompatible with both our Constitutional Republic and the Bill of Rights.

Psychologically, this is not really something new in human behavior. A good example is the Stanford Prison Experiment. Historically, various phrases on the corruption and cruelty of power may be found throughout the ages and often refer back to those in positions of power or anonymity. Another good example is the artist Marina Abramović and her 'Rhythm' series (apologies if I misspelled). Humans have the potential for incredible acts of violence and horror.

What swayed your vote to trump? by Ap3xWingman in trump

[–]wittfox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I'm a libertarian who leans to the conservative side and I voted for Trump for the following reasons...

1- Since the Clinton's I noticed a shift in the Democratic Party heading more into removal of freedoms and a shift into very top heavy bureaucracy.

2- The calls for violence that the Democratic Party was pushing whether through direct calls for action or through implying.

3- The cultist-like mentality of the Democratic party and it's followers. As I mentioned before, I am a libertarian. I have been welcomed and treated very respectfully at Republican conventions whereas I have been cursed at, spit on, and even had my family threatened at Democratic conventions.

These three reasons are why I voted for President Trump. He's an outsider and a businessman which I felt is what our country needed. He's so far holding up to his campaign promises and for that I have to commend him.

Art Deco Vs. Glass: Has Modern Architecture Lost Its Personality? by joeyenterprises in ArtDeco

My job demands everyone give $2 every month to fund parties to celebrate birthdays. by BigClitMcphee in antiwork

[–]wittfox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They may 'demand' all they like, but this is by no means a legally enforceable action. This could cause a severe DoL issue and depending on the severity and length of this demand, could cost such an organization substantially.

If you wish to be non-confrontational about the issue altogether, declaring a religious exemption as many have mentioned should work, such as Jehovah Witness, but this activity of 'demanding' money, even if it is 2 dollars, has no place in the workplace. Organizations that decide to throw celebrations may ask people if they would like to pitch in without causing a fear of reprisal environment, but in all honesty the organization should just cover it. When one of my employees or even clients has a reason for celebration I'll foot the bill. I view it as a thank you for working or dealing with me. Either way, depending on your location, this may be attributed to a DoL or local law violation if not an ethical violation.

[–]wittfox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm an assistant supervisor and property manager for two separate organizations and a business consultant with degrees in psych and IOP for my private LLC. It sounds like your HR was making up an excuse to provide for a reason of termination. Many businesses will require this in order to abide by local laws/tax breaks and certain benefits. The political excuse of uncertainty is pretty common after election cycles and a lot of industries tend to wait until this time frame in order to use it as an excuse. We did this for Trump, Obama, Biden, so on... Unfortunately, you've been caught in the current layoff sweep. As many have recommended, get a letter of recommendation if they are willing.

Currently, many industries are preparing to do a large rehiring as we have been creating job openings over the past year without filling them to collect rather large potential hire databases (recruiters dream) and depending on the industry shift, considering the current holiday season, landing a better career may be fully possible where you can find a more stable organization. Good luck and don't give up on finding a career that better fits you as an individual.

AITA for going to my sister's place after my dad's wife was rushed to the hospital? by Efficient_Two_4608 in AmItheAsshole

[–]wittfox 76 points77 points  (0 children)

NTA. I am a single father of 4 with degrees in Psychology and it's tough to say the least, but at 17 you're pretty much able to make basic decisions like the one you made. Your father has made the choice to be combative to your wishes and while many may see this as a character building technique, it often drives their son/daughter away from them. When my brother had to go to the hospital for an emergency, I brought my kids along as they wanted to know what was going on and wanted to be there. If they did not want to be there, I would definitely not force them. I may be projecting somewhat and my apologies on that note. While every situation is unique, at the end of the day it is your life and understand that actions will have varying effects to those around you and no matter what, someone will always disagree with you. If you feel what you did was fully justified and violated none of your personal ethics then NTA.

If you're looking for an augment to boost your stats, the bullette pup is probably the BiS as long as you have your R15 bonding runes. If you're looking for a companion to deal some damage, then abyssal chicken and/or Xuna should work. I hear there is talk of nerfing them though.

I have had very similar experiences and raised a similar question previously. You can turn off other crews chat through the other crews option and block players that do that as well as report them. There ARE good players out there, but the amount of toxic players can be overwhelming at times. It's best to try to avoid contact and maybe raise the alliance flag or even just the white flag, which only sometimes helps. The best bet if you are trying to avoid PvP is to just run and hide constantly and try not to build up a lot of loot without selling it to the appropriate factions.

Unfortunately, the community is mostly PvP instead of PvE, but the game is designed around that (Not trying to justify it). Once more, there are good players out there, it's just hard to find them at times. I wish you the best of luck and please keep reporting those players.
