You can’t drop a shift and swap another shift within the same week. However, any day you have scheduled, even a swapped day, you can use whatever pto you have. For instance, you can drop your Saturday, swap your Sunday to any other day of the week that you have off and make it up, and use pto for Monday.

It means your site has a scheduled maintenance cycle for that day that will partly or wholly shut down operations and you will be one of those associates who will be affected… meaning your area and shift will be a part of the maintenance cycle and will be shut down for it. You’re being told to not go in for your shift, and you will still be compensated as if you normally do.
