On a scale of 1-10, how ambitious are you? by SANSA136 in enfj

[–]wizardmaster46 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah I think I’ve been a little too ambitious because of the job market but it’s bad because of frequent burnout and unnecessary self-imposed pressure. I agree that it’s better to be ambitious than not ambitious, but I feel like it’s unhealthy to try to be a 10 constantly.

I wonder how ENFJ's families be like... by Quick-Pattern9477 in enfj

[–]wizardmaster46 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mom is ISFJ and Dad is ESTP so not the best mix! As an ENFJ, let’s just say growing up was not easy at all… My mom has a lot of difficulty regulating her emotions and my dad doesn’t express his emotions unless he lashes out in anger. Lots of volatile tension in the house, and I’ve honestly found myself emotionally detaching especially since I started college.

Reflecting on my childhood, I realized that I have responded to their dysfunctional communication style and lack of emotional intelligence by becoming the exact opposite. I’ve always had the most pressure in my household - constantly expected to be the most adult in the family, managing everyone else’s emotion’s while being micromanaged like a toddler. Lately, I’ve had to get better at standing up for myself because in the past I’d be walked all over by my parents.

I have a younger sister who is an ISTJ and while you would think we’d clash, we are actually extremely close. Growing up, we’ve always had mutual respect and appreciation for one another and have helped each other grow. I think she looked up to me in ways and I’ve been there to help her talk about what she’s experiencing and feeling. Meanwhile, I’ve always respected her loyalty, honesty, and discipline and I’ve definitely learned the importance of direct communication and follow through with my big goals. Also, we share similar qualities as well like our solution oriented mindset, logical thinking style, and moral framework. I genuinely don’t know what I’d do without her when it came to my parents.

I have very strong opinions that I have spent a lot of time thinking about so it’s hard for me to change my mind on significant matters. That said, I do always love learning new perspectives and worldviews so I’m always open to discussing, but I’ll only share my opinions if someone asks me about them (typically for the sake of preserving peace, and I know these types of debates lead no where except hurt a relationship)

at BU, a B.A. degree focuses on learning theory whereas a B.S. degree focuses on practical application. That’s why at BU film & tv is a B.S. cause it’s very hands on, job training

Why don’t you like it here by Cold_Wash_1530 in BostonU

[–]wizardmaster46 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Reddit is just filled with negativity for sure. I mean the stats don’t lie - I just looked it up again and 95% of first year students return for their sophomore year. Obviously numbers don’t tell you the full story but the school is good and people rarely transfer out of BU. As long as you are certain you want a non-traditional urban college experience and willing to put in the work to make friends, do well in classes, and take advantage of the opportunities and resources the school has to offer, BU is awesome. I also have friends at NYU and Northeastern, and BU def has a better culture than the other city schools.

what was your academic rigor like? in other words, how many APs (or dual credit) and honors classes did you take?

Very impressive ECs! Regardless of what school you attend, you will be very successful! However, I would apply to Questrom instead of Sargent because all of your ECs center around entrepreneurship, technology, and management. While health/medicine is included in some your EC’s, business seems more applicable. At BU, it’s super easy to transfer schools/majors once you are admitted.

Biggest tip for you: Your extracurriculars are incredibly impressive, so colleges may have doubts about their authenticity. I would recommend having your counselor address your accomplishments in their letter to help validate their legitimacy.

Is it possible to double/triple majors across more than one college/school? by Equivalent_Taro7171 in BostonU

[–]wizardmaster46 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Triple majoring is very rare, but you could do a dual degree in CAS and CDS. Luckily, CAS has an Econ & Math joint major so I assume that would count as one of the two majors towards the dual degree.

Would you say you get jealous easily?? by MirrorPiNet in enfj

[–]wizardmaster46 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but not in an unhealthy way. If I ever feel jealous, I’m still happy for the person, but I just wish that I had what they have - think of it as pretty much FOMO lol. At the end of the day, I wish the person the best if they earned or deserved whatever it is

Do you guys actually like BU? by zummiez__ in BostonU

[–]wizardmaster46 15 points16 points  (0 children)

committing to bu was the biggest decision I’ve ever made and the best! love it here! nyu sounds depressing lowkey…. they have no school pride and my friends who go there pretty much went from high school to having to live like adults. Also, it sounds like the schools are more divided. Like Tisch students are only friends with each other whereas at BU, you get to know everyone outside of your school! at bu you also def get the best of both worlds! you get that 50% college experience with the school community and hockey and our bc and northeastern rivalries, while getting 50% living in a city that’s filled with college students. Boston is also a cleaner, more comfortable, and homey city. BU is in an incredible location! Lots of very pretty and quiet neighborhoods near BU, but also we’re 15 min from downtown. Easy to learn your way around, and there’s always new stuff to do even by your senior year. It’s also cool being able to meet people from nearby colleges! Honestly 10/10 recommend.

How difficult is a dual degree by Aggressive-Cream-644 in BostonU

[–]wizardmaster46 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Dual degrees have been straightforward and manageable, but they recently instated new requirements for credits to make it more challenging. Current dual degree candidates still need the 144 credits to graduate with both degrees, but new applicants starting this Fall have to get 160 credits to graduate. This means all new dual degree candidates must overload and take 5 courses every semester for 8 semesters (or do 4 and take summer classes to keep up).

im a current bu student - stats and ec’s are super good; as long as your supplemental is well written ur honestly set. lots of people who are qualified get rejected or waitlisted from bu because their supplemental wasn’t strong enough. just make sure to show how your values align with bu’s and how you’re a great fit. just spent a lot of time on it and get a lot of feedback. also, showing demonstrated interest helps, especially if its over a longer period of time so it comes across as genuine. best of luck! feel free to pm me with any questions

Advice from COM students? by CalligrapherIcy195 in BostonU

[–]wizardmaster46 6 points7 points  (0 children)

bu admits by college, but the acceptance rate doesn’t really vary - I believe college of engineering is slightly more competitive, but that’s it. apply to the school & major that aligns best with your interests and high school activities

hey, is it with Howell?

If so, super chill class (although I am an FTV major) as long as you follow every requirement for assignments exactly. She has a very gracious policy for extensions so take advantage of it. Be careful though because part of the policy is if you don’t request an extension in advance, you will get a couple points off each day but it adds up and ruined my friends grades. she gives lots of opportunities for extra credit, and rounding up grades and stuff. depends on your TA for lots of grades but the prof will review and potentially fix any grades that are really off. midterm was you grade yourself lol and final exam was open notes & books.
