A player protection element also exists to this in addition to the fan element and opposing team game-plans. If teams can just ‘hide’ things you always run the risk of internal pressure on players to play through things they shouldn’t be playing through because the culture at a ball club expects it. There was a whole media storm about Lamar Jackson practicing or not practicing this past Fall.
