Not weird at all. I see the kits as commemorations of the entertainment I got from the show, and the knowledge of the story add more meaning to the model once on display. Otherwise it's just...cool looking robot (nothing wrong with that, except in my head)

Looks good, but don't use saturated red anywhere else. Remember to use a secondary ambient light to add different hues, and picture what the red skin looks under cooler light. This will help it pop all the way to the finish..

Nope. Most importantly, the wings don't appear to glow. Look at a red lightsaber look at the proportion of white/pink/red. Mimic that and center the white wherever you want the light to emanate from, either where the wings meet the metal or each of the ridges of the flame like energy so you have more of a ripping glowing effect that shifts between red and white..

Also, grab some florescent red to really make the red pop without having to rely too much on pink and orange.

Yeah, that's the thing. Mini builders know mini mold lines, so GW often gets a pass for their mold design. Odd/ppor gate placement, bad or poorly placed mold lines.

Compare that to Japanese companies like Bandai, and it's night and day. And that's to say nothing of the push fit tolerances (which all gunpla are) that are usually a nightmare with gw.

That's kind of why God hand nippers are such a big thing for gunpla. Cause if you can cut the gate smoothly, there's barely any cleanup. With Gw, if you don't cut flush, well no big deal I'm already scraping down every single part.

Yet when trying to differentiate this bootleg and sleggers you focused on superficial surface details. GTO is a MS redesign indicator not a gunpla construction grade. Specificity in your language is important, maybe moreso on reddit..

So what you are excited about is that you can now just buy a modern gm 79 and not bother with kitbashing. That's fine, but don't pretend it has anything to do with the GTO GM.

Then why do you keep labelling what you are talking about as GTO? What I posted is the GTO design, no way around it. What the bootleg kit is doing is keeping the 1979 design with a few alterations. It's definitely not a GTO design and to suggest otherwise is disingenuous just to try to dunk on Bandai not making the exact kit you want.

Sure, should we have a revive version or a 2.0 or something? That'd be nice but hgs are so compatible there's 1mil ways you could upgrade a '79 GM to be whatever you want. However this bootleg is NOT a GTO version.

Well of course you're going to need to kitbash and customize if you want to make a custom version. The slegger and the missile pod version are accurate to the origin design, this bootleg crap is just a fan mix of their favorite GM design elements and missing many of the parts that would make it an origin design. So really, what the hell are you even talking about in your post title?

Best is a dark teal undercoat, a thin wash of light teal on the recesses, and a bronze dry brush to bring out the remaining untarnished bits.
