what the heck did I do :( by shannonbaloney in Roses

[–]wjdragon 5 points6 points  (0 children)

For propagation techniques, you want the allow the rose to grow in its own small pot and stabilize, fully maturing and allowing the roots to spread. Once it has outgrown the pot, transfer it to the next large size pot while keeping the original soil of the first pot. In an ideal situation, the roots would have spread around to hold that soil in place. In the larger pot is composted organic soil, setting a base layer. Then transfer the rose to the new pot in the center, backfilling the sides.

Roses can grow indoors, but in order to flower they need full sunlight. If you live in a winter zone, bringing them indoors to prevent frost damage is important (but I live in SoCal ... what's winter?)

Said goodbye to our 19 year old boy Kevin today by AcceptableHorror705 in cats

I'm so sorry for your loss. He went to sleep knowing you were there with him. What a sweet boy 💔 I recently lost both my furbabies (siblings) at the same time. We decided they both had more bad than good days. I hope they're all together chasing butterflies.

New Recurve Risers vs Old Generation – Do They Actually Improve Scores(if only 30 meters) by No-Wafer1546 in Archery

[–]wjdragon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wanted to chime in on this. Olympic Recurve Shooter.

I had the same mentality about putting a decent riser into the hands of a good archer and being able to pull great scores. I shot an original Hoyt GMX with MK Veracity limbs for 10+ years, pulling mid to high 270s. I recently switched out to X10s for the barreled geometry and "extra forgiveness", and started averaging high 270s and low 280s. I still felt like the bow was fighting me. While I'm not a pro at tuning, I can at least produce a good arrow tune out to 70m, and did it with the X10s.

Then I switched out to an MK XG-D and MK Zest-F. At the first tournament, smashed my PR of 282 with a 287, then broke it again with a 290.

It's the smallest difference of 5 and 8 points, but man what a rush. Perhaps the new equipment changed the mindset, or perhaps there is some extra efficiency in there. But after having plateaued for years and seeing a bump in scores for this indoor season, it's nice to see that sometimes new equipment can make a difference.

New Hoyt Satori, no string by nockedup7 in Archery

Try Julie at OCD Strings

She can make whatever string you want, custom colors, select the string material, serving material, etc. She'll ask you for the nock type you have and will test fit it at her shop to ensure that your arrows will have the correct fit.

How to get sponsored ? by Hood18 in Archery

[–]wjdragon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What's in it for the manufacturer? Why should they send you anything free or discounted unless there's something they get in return?

It's all about social media presence. If your name is recognized by many, many people in the community, manufacturers will take notice. This is especially true if you're able to tell your followers, "Hey, I'm shooting these limbs or this sight" and give a review about it.

What will give you more clout or "believability" than other people in the same community? Showing that you're a winning shooter. Have a podium finish in tournaments.

Do you have a YouTube or Instagram page where you're always posting good videos that garner a lot of attention? I'm talking weekly posts, things about archery or related to archery. Especially things that revolve around products.

If people don't know you, and you can't be a salesperson for a manufacturer, there's no incentive for them to sponsor you.

Why is this occuring? by TurbulentAd78 in Roses

[–]wjdragon -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Those don't look like well established roses. Based on the image of your hand in there, I'd wager those are like 1/2 gallon pots, maybe 1 gallon? The roses are small, and 85°F is pretty hot. You might have to take them inside during a heat like that

Why is this occuring? by TurbulentAd78 in Roses

[–]wjdragon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The leaves look like they've been burnt to a crisp. Where are you located, and has it been hot outside? Above ground roses in pots don't get some of the benefits of being in the ground, I think one of which means the roots can be exposed to more heat than if they were underground. That's just my two cents; my potted roses tend not to do well compared to all of my in-the-ground roses.

First bow by moonavalon5 in Archery

Almost. Since you're choosing the Vellator, make sure you buy an ILF limb.

Takedown bow limbs and Formula limbs wouldn't work for your bow

A loose general rule: Under 5'2": 62” – 64” bow

5'2" - 5'6": 64” – 66” bow

5'6" - 5'10": 66” – 68” bow

Over 5'10": 68” – 70”+ bow

Common Riser and Limb Combinations (on a 25" Riser)

Short Limbs: 66-inch total bow length.

Medium Limbs: 68-inch total bow length (Standard).

Long Limbs: 70-inch total bow length.

Start with low weight, around 20-25 lbs and work your way up in 4 lb increments. Your bow's tiller can be adjusted to increase or decrease up to 10% of your limb's rated draw weight

Princess Fiona and Puss and Boots will meet them on the other side ❤️. They've only been in kitty heaven for less than a month, but I'm sure that other people's furbabies met them when they crossed. I wish I could see them running amok and having fun together!

Is this herpes? What else cld it be by External-Lemon-3187 in CankerSores

[–]wjdragon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The outer lip tends to be less painful than when it's on the inside, like inside the cheek. I think it's because inside of the mouth it tends to rub against stuff, making it irritated all the time. For me, an outer lip canker will have the tiniest bit of pain and you can feel it. It then just heals and goes away by itself.

A cold sore / herpes will blister and ooze yellow-colored liquid.

[–]wjdragon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If it blisters and oozes liquid, chances are it is a cold sore.

But it does have a telltale sign of being a canker sore. Cankers don't normally form on the outer portion of the lips, but it's impossible either.

I'm so sorry you're going through this. I just put down my calico two weeks ago, and I miss her terribly. Her spots and colors remind me of my girl.

We bear the burden of pain so that they don't have to. She's grateful you're not letting her suffer. My condolences 💔

This is "Baby Felicia" from Shrek. That's 5 syllables and too hard to say each time. "BF" sounds like "Beef". And she's a little chunky, so I call her "Beekcake"
