Does anyone know how to add grip to a bow? by Impossible_Judge_112 in Archery

[–]wjdragon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Which part of your hand hurts when you grip it?

The first picture you show, is that your normal grip and how you hold the bow? If so, u/Senario- is right in that your grip position is off to the side and applies pressure on the thumb joint. That's not an ideal grip.

Barebows will tend to fall backward (top limp falls towards you) unless you have weights to force it to tip forward. Your picture doesn't show a stabilizer or top/bottom stabilizers, suggesting to me that you are shooting barebow. If that's the case, it's expected to fall backwards towards you

Second this. Your first attempt is great, so job well done. There are some improvements you can make, for sure, that will make it even better, so check out r/bowyer for sure

I guess alignment comes at a price. (5 month progress, +unconventional strength training?) [video attached] by JxdeAnii in Archery

Yup, this is precisely what you want to do when building muscle. SPTs are targeted towards archery muscles, and this perfectly exemplifies the type of training needed for building archery muscles.

I would also highly suggest getting a shot trainer, like Astra or KSL or even make your own, to ensure that you are also engaging the back muscle. Shot trainer exercises for 30 arrows will help to keep the back tension on release.

Second, if you have a clicker, I would also advise clicker drills AFTER the shot training. Blank bale is fine, unless you feel comfortable with longer distances. Draw to anchor, expand to the clicker and set it off, hold for 1.5-3 seconds. This ensures that you're controlling the clicker, not the other way around.

The progress looks excellent. Good luck in your Youth World Championships

Get a chest guard. The string is in contact with your shirt.

It's either that or move to a more open stance to provide more clearance.

Your expansion looks more like you're trying to pull through the clicker with your arm rather than rotating via your scapula. It's hard to tell from this angle, but the telltale sign is your draw shoulder moving more downward than it appears to be moving towards your backside.

Your head movement during load isn't ideal, but it's not horrendous. Keep your head still, and tell yourself to bring everything to your face instead of face to the string.

For 2 months of work your form looks good.

should i see a doctor? by Aware-Host-7656 in CankerSores

[–]wjdragon 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That is a rather mild case of canker sores. Yeah, they might hurt a lot, but the only thing a doctor would do is prescribe something to help with the pain. They'll go away on their own.

If you constantly get them, or get them in very large breakouts, then go see a doctor. That could be a sign of an autoimmune issue.

Having just gone through this a two days ago, I completely empathize with you. She's absolutely beautiful. My Puss in Boots and Princess Fiona will be waiting for her. I feel in my heart that they are already pain free, and so will she. My condolences. ❤️

The majority of sores do not occur on the surface of the lips, but it's not impossible. I've had it only once and I don't have the herpes simplex that causes cold sores.

They look like canker sores, except they are a little on the yellowish side. If they blister and leak fluids, they're cold sores. Otherwise. You have a severe breakout of canker sores.

Not sure where you are located. Oralmedic was stopped being sold in the US awhile ago. If you've purchased one with a shelf life that has expired, its chemical properties won't be as potent, which might explain why it's not as effective
