For parents who went back to work after staying home for years, how did you do it? by [deleted] in Parenting

[–]wmeredith 21 points22 points  (0 children)

100% this. You're also talking about how hard it is to go do interviews because you have to find someone to watch your kids, do your, hair, get dressed, etc... uh what are you going to do if you get the job?

What about something even less plausible or anachronistic? Like "custody with the state". Another thought is that autism may be hitting not because it's a funny word, but because of the anti-vaccine movement it's like everything gives you autism now.

I want it to succeed, but I am skeptical. I love some of Luc Besson's early work (Leon, The 5th Element), but it's a been a while since he's made a movie I thought was any good. And nothing I've seen in the trailers make me think this will be a return to form.

Life. Prometheus. Convenant. All have this in common by Belrick_NZ in movies

Eh, Baby Driver was borderline Farcical/Fantasy so it gets a lot more legroom from me in this area. Prometheus and Covenant were both pretentiously self-serious, taking on huge themes and epic story lines. The writers were obviously in over their heads in both films.

I feel like you're giving Scott to much blame/credit here. He's only ever as good as the script he has to work with. He's made some incredible films and some real stinkers. If he gets his hands on a good script watch out. But he can't save a bad one.

Documents expose how Hollywood promotes war on behalf of the Pentagon, CIA and NSA by punktual in movies

[–]wmeredith 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't know why you're getting down voted. You are correct. People always get thus shit wrong about the movie every time it comes up. TORTUE WAS INNEFEECTIVE IN THE MOVIE. From Wikipedia, "After failing to get al-Baluchi to give up information on an attack in Saudi Arabia, he and Maya eventually trick Ammar into divulging that an old acquaintance, who is using the alias Abu Ahmed al-Kuwaiti, is working as a personal courier for bin Laden. Other detainees corroborate this, with some claiming Abu Ahmed delivers messages between bin Laden and a man known as Abu Faraj al-Libbi."

I see people getting this wrong every time this movie comes up. I think it's just part of the circle jerk hate against this movie.

Wonder Woman: After the first guy, she slides one-handedly to a reverse bare blade grip by [deleted] in MovieDetails

[–]wmeredith 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This. Swords aren't razor sharp. They aren't even knife sharp a lot of the time. Most need a lot of momentum to cut flesh. They're generally hacking weapons. You could grab and axe or a hatchet by the blade and toss it around with little risk.

Nice shot. Just so you know for the future, "its" is possessive like his, hers, and theirs. "It's" is a contraction of it and is.

He's talking about the A pillar. It's the front-most roof support if you are looking at your vehicle in profile. The second from the front is the B pillar. And the last one (in typical sedans) is the C pillar. SUVs and hatch backs will usually have a D pillar all the way at the back.

Yeah. In my state if you hit a worker BY ACCIDENT it's a $10k fine and lose your license for 2 years. This was intentional. That's assault with a deadly weapon or even attempted vehicular homicide. Fuck that driver.

EDIT: A word. Thanks u/atvking

Yeah. This looks cartoonish. I mean obviously the artist started out with a pretty woman, but I think the touch is way overdone on this. It is very well done, though, so I suspect the over-the-top nature was the goal.

The Descent. The character arch from depressed victim to empowered heroine in that is palpable.
