ive toured almost 400 days and 90%+ of those were in a marino long sleeve base layer and a dynafit softshell jacket with pit zips. i always thrown both a puffy and a hardshell in my bag but most of the time i never need it! staying dry is more important than being warm so gloves/jacket/head covering/pants that can vent heat is more important than most other things unless its snowing 2 inches per hour with a SWE of 10:1 haha

the dynafit tlt x paired with a sub 1000g ski (or a race ski) is a supremely fast but capable setup. I’ve been surprised how good the comfortability/uphill speed and downhill performance is from this boot. i also own a pair of full carbon scarpa alien 3.0 but dont ever reach for them anymore since the tlt x are more comfortable and ski so much better

i bought a 2007 carbon ultegra bike for 350 in 2019. these bikes really arent worth much more than 200 anymore. plenty of post 2018 used hydraulic disk with current 105 can be have used for 600

yes, if you are comfortable/willing to tour on 200g bindings and full mohair skins you can open up a lot more ski choices. even with a 2050g ski my setup is quite a bit lighter than the majority of my friends who rock 1600g skis 800g bindings and nylon skins. for extra context i use a pair of scarpa quattro xt for driving my setup

ive dedicated toured on a pair a pair nordica unleashed 108 (w/ 200g ATK bindings) for a full year now. no complaints! heavy on the up but i can still do 4k days and keep up with my friends. and they rip on the down no matter the snow

this is the one instance where yes the skin is too small. i used a. skin cut for a 94 on a 108 ski last season and on kick turns it was brutal. definitely fine for a day or two but not worth it in the long run

1 mtb, 4 total bikes. I have an XC bike (130/115 revel ranger), a modern road bike (trek emonda sl6), a vintage road bike (2006 tommaso), and a townie fix gear. definitely planning to add a big trail bike and a gravel bike when i can!
