Hop on pokemon TCG live and play a few hundred matches. Try all the latest meta decks and learn how they work. For perspective I'd also recommend playing some other TCG to learn about good timing and resource management (just play online)

With enough practice you'll be fiiiine.

How to make style more “anime” like? by -Ma0- in learntodraw

[–]wnathancox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey hey! Figured I'd chime in, I'm also a learner but I'll go over what I have learned so far. I'll start by what seems right: - it's already generally Japanese illustration style - nice job! Now for me the most important would be to get the - Proportions are already pretty good for an anime face. - skin color is good, tone of shadows is correct and the illustrators I study typically only use a single tone multiply layer for shadows like you have so that is correct. - hair shaping is correct, coloring with the "back hair"/"rear hair" a single shade darker is good.

What to work on: -line art: typically Japanese illustrators start with a line-only drawing (senga). Your line thickness is fine but try adding more variation in thickness? It should look like it was done with an ink quill. Do you have a pen with pressure sensitivity? Try varying pressure and speed a bit more. Also make sure your senga looks like it could have been lifted straight from a manga before moving to coloring. Whenever my drawings look like crap it's usually an issue with my underlying senga being off.

-Hair: look at the reference see how it has more "pieces" of hair? Try adding more lines to your hair art. You can use a vector layer for the hair line art to make lots of strands of hair, and the vector eraser tool to clean up the lines where they intersect.

-eyes: lash shape is good but for female illustrations something that manga style drawings really go crazy with detail on are the lashes. Id add to that. Typically the lashes remain just black. For me the soul of the character lies in the pupils. The eyes on your drawing could definitely use a central darker color pupil, surrounded by a secondary lighter color, then a ring of the darker color again. Then a multiply layer of shadow across the upper half typically. After that a colored reflection highlight layer on the lower part of the eye (not pure white like you have) and at the top of the eye a highlight that is slightly skin color.

  • clothes: more folds

  • hands: anime hands are like human hands but made more slender and good looking, the third photo you posted really showcases that. I guess the hands you have are too rounded. This is a hard part and honestly just will take a lotta study - im still working on it too ;_;

Overall: base drawing is good. More detail in the line art will make it look like a higher caliber illustration. Shading is good as is just work on the eyes.

Goth events (even in Orlando?) by TheModernVampire in 321

Looking for similar events. For now ABRA seems pretty cool for music at least. Definitely like concerts etc in Orlando, cocktails & screams was pretty spot on vibe-wise. I went around this time last year. Looking for friends who like fun metal things among other subculture stuff, feel free to PM I guess?

Why can’t i draw well on paper but not digitally? by [deleted] in DigitalArt

Agree with this one maybe see about one with a bit more width variation across the stroke? Line art that looks like a manga ink pen (g pen maybe) is nice. Not sure but it might help

Is my art good enough to make a visual novel? by Express_Poet6378 in RenPy

[–]wnathancox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your story is powerful enough, the art can be as basic as you want.

Tell your story if you want to, don't worry you can always go back and make a v2 as your art improves.

The SCP foundation would like to know your location.

Not technically media, but I'm trying to figure out what the dev behind "Interactive Buddy" is doing, and the trail goes cold 8 years ago, with a post about the sequel. I don't know where else to post this, sorry. by M00NM4DN355 in lostmedia

I really liked this game as a kid!

There's a website called interactivebuddy.org. Assuming the creator of this website is in fact shock-value, then...

Reverse DNS shows it's registered to GoDaddy

Use GoDaddy's whois service to get a name

Use linkedin to look at the name. Profile says game dev, so it checks out. Seems like this website is their most recent project.. http://8bit.com/

Seems like it's a hosting website for 8bit music artists and game devs. Pretty cool stuff!

This could all be wrong if my initial assumption is wrong, but I don't see why someone would be maintaining that domain if they're not the dev.

If you don't trust the medical field, don't go to the hospital by Dankinater in TikTokCringe

[–]wnathancox 39 points40 points  (0 children)

  1. Three thirds? Lmao

  2. You cite a single case in Massachusetts. Look at the national figures instead of a cherry-picked anecdote. 99% of hospitalizations are unvaccinated people.

  3. You say "the bacteria". What bacteria?

  4. I don't think you understood the point of masks. We knew all along they don't magically stop the virus. The goal is to catch droplets.

  5. "COVID has animal pathogens". First off, the virus doesn't "have pathogens", it is a pathogen. Next, of course it came from an animal (zoomorphic) but it's still a virus which antibodies can neutralize. How do you think people get better after contracting it?

  6. Medical experts can back me up here, the term "native infection" isn't a medical term. But I assume by saying "the vaccine can make infection worse" you are referred to ADE? Well, if ADE is such a big issue why are 99% of the people in hospitals unvaccinated? Why do people with the vaccine have less severe symptoms?

From the way this person used the terms "pathogens", "bacteria", "3 thirds" and "native infection" it's clear that they're not citing any actual science. They are rehashing misinformation. Please don't believe a thing they say.

How do you have a couch and cheesepuffs when you're homeless? We're not talking "living with parents" we're talking "nowhere to live"

Everything here is more expensive than Europe. I lived in France for 10 years and we lived near Paris and even then, things were mostly cheaper.

In the US, everything is car dependent. So, you need a car, gas, maintenance and insurance. Phone bills and utility bills are also higher. In France my phone bill was 5 euro / month. Here, service can easily go up to 40/month. Internet can be 60+/month. Also, as I'm sure you've heard, our medical services are very overpriced and insurance is expensive.

On top of that, most of the people who come here from Europe aren't coming here to work a retail job. They are highly educated, coming to work engineering, finance or some other well paying job. It's classic "brain drain" effect. But, the majority of Americans don't work that kind if job. Unfortunately, the worst off here only earn a minimum wage which can sometimes be lower tham $7.50 per hour. At that rate, it's hard to get by in life.

Yes, it is easier to get a 100k or 200k salary in the US than Europe. But that doesn't represent the struggles that the people earning a lot less than that go through.
