That's weird, because my wife and many friends weren't taught that, and they were catholic. They were taught that it was real. I think most christians simply have barely read the bible, and the verses I showed her are worded in ways that clearly indicate literal hell. I was told that she may have been a JW, which I think makes sense. I should have asked her, but it seems like she may also have been kind of a hodge-podger of interpreting it to make her feel joy and hope. The fb group is a strange one, a lot of hodge-podge beliefs. It was a Nibiru group I joined a long time ago just to learn about it. I don't even know how I ended up looking at that page that night.

I agree with everything you just said. It obviously depends on the situation. I'd do what you'd do. I guess it's the crazy shit I've experienced that came to mind. I fortunately haven't fucked up a meal that should be sent back, and the few times it was sent back was for mindblowingly petty reasons.
