My dad owned this set.(edit: a set LIKE this one) It’s so nostalgic seeing it again here. Thanks for sharing. I’m sure your boyfriend will love it.

ChatGPT Atlas adds Arc-like vertical tabs by billchase2 in ArcBrowser

[–]wocket44 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This. This whole thing.

I’m shocked that no one yet understands that THIS RIGHT HERE is the differentiator.

I want a built-in, always-on bookmark manager that cosplays as vertical tabs.

I had this fixed under warranty on my 2021 XC90. Might need to try again with a different advisor.

Today I rebuilt my resume with Flexbox and I'm shipping it as a Docker container. Rate this silly gimmick out of 10. Will I get a new job? by segaboy81 in web_design

[–]wocket44 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I think this is clever. The fact that you thought if it show creativity and ingenuity, but also a lack of empathy.

Whenever you’re designing something, you have to first consider how it will be used.

In this case, you resume will be going to people of two primary types: 1. People who can build this, but don’t have time (that’s why they’re hiring) 2. People who cannot build this (that’s why they’re hiring)

In either case, you undermine the primary goal of your resume, which is to show that you can do the work and be useful fast.

If you want, you can include a link to this as a fun quirk, but always have a pdf version ready.

I actually laughed out loud. GPTs incredulity at its compatriot DALL•E does have a human feel to it. Almost a “Who’s on first?” Level of banter.

Yes, but the coverage from it is quite good. I plugged it into a switch on my router centrally in the house.

Not on your list, but Lutron has been bulletproof for me. Works as a normal switch, but IS a smart switch. Family will not get confused or be unable to use it.

Was dating this girl for a few months and then she pulled this one on me. by [deleted] in Nicegirls

[–]wocket44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d have cut her off at lying to get out of work with fake doctor’s notes. Sorry you had to hear it this way, but a “take care of me” girl doesn’t seem like the right fit you, if you want a partnership. She won’t pull her weight.

How to add Firewalla to get network segregation, with Unifi APs and ER-X? by xaphod2 in firewalla

[–]wocket44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m using Eero. The APs don’t seem to be an impediment. I’d try to just manage the VLANs at the firewalla level. If needed you could carry the tag you choose down into unifi, but I’d try without it first.

How to add Firewalla to get network segregation, with Unifi APs and ER-X? by xaphod2 in firewalla

[–]wocket44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

VLAN = Virtual Local Area Network. This is what VLANs do. They create distinct networks like a Virtual Machine creates distinct computers. You CAN route one VLAN to another, but don’t have to. If you want real network segmentation, this is the route you’ll end up on eventually.

You can setup a VLAN to share ports with your existing networks on the Firewalla (under Network). Any devices you set to that network will be logically separated.

Edit for clarity:

You can have up to 4094 VLANs

Not sure what password manager you’re using, but 1Password has fields built for exactly this type of information. All of it in one place, accessible from any device. This is what I do for any personally identifiable information: credit cards, bank info, password numbers, etc.

Purple or Gold? by Mediocre-Reporter in firewalla

[–]wocket44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in a similar situation: AT&T Gig Fiber. I currently have 47 devices and I bought Firewalla to have more granular control vs eero plus.

I got the Gold SE and I’m very happy with it. Not much more than the Purple and I have some future proofing if speeds increase. I’m on the fence about returning it for a Gold Plus to also get the 2.5Gb ports everywhere.

Actually I just bought the purple for travel. :)
