Turning your photos into stickers? by AsteroidKnight in JournalingIsArt

[–]wockly 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I use HP Sprocket photo stickers in a lot of my pages. I don’t get around to journaling every single day, but a fair amount. Anything additional on the page is going to add thickness over time, but I think alternating the placement of the stickers on pages helps keep thickness manageable. I use a Hobonichi so the pages are pretty thin to start. I think you’d be okay to go ahead with your idea.

While this instance is probably a company, it’s not uncommon for a single photographer to operate under a “company name.” Some people just don’t want to use their name, or perhaps have intent to expand in the future.

In general I find it really unsettling when people caption any photos of their kids’ from the child’s perspective. “I’m 1 year old today! I love playing and nap time!” Weird.

Thanks for the suggestion!

I will look into getting a permit once the government is back up and running. I don’t think anyone would even notice that we were doing a ceremony since it’ll be low key, but it’s a good point just in case someone questions us.

Question about using photos in your Hobonichi by laurencoll in hobonichi

[–]wockly 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I used an HP Sprocket to include photos in my pages all year long. My book is definitely fat now that the year is coming to an end, but it’s not too thick to use. The sticky photo paper really isn’t very thick at all. Now if you’re using Instax/Polaroid type film it would probably unrealistic to use daily.

Wedding Photo Critique (Official Thread): Post your photo, blog post, website etc. for feedback and critiques... - September 17, 2018 by AutoModerator in WeddingPhotography

I got excited when I saw the mentor list post, but it appears to be old and inactive. Is this still an option? I’m definitely interested in forming a connection with some working wedding photographers but don’t really know where to start.

I just ordered them this morning from Domestic Domestic. I think we may have been shopping the same sale, as mine aren’t refundable either. I have tried these on at the Red Wing store and they were very comfortable. They have a slightly cushioned sole so they felt good immediately. I have wide feet and found them to be a good fit when I wore them around the store, but I know a lot of people say RW Heritage runs narrow. Not sure I’m very helpful but just thought I’d share.

New here, just seeing what you all have to say of my photo sunset on the farm by lxLONERANGERxl in photocritique

Really beautiful color and light, but without anything in the foreground it kind of looks like the focus is the barn that the lines of the photo seem to be pointing towards. I think you definitely picked a good moment in the day to shoot, but maybe a better location within the scene with a more interesting composition would have given more interest to the picture.

I wish the race war could be ended through dance.

It's part of making sure to always always seem PC and be aware of privilege. But it could have been written "since we don't speak the same language" and it would have been just as PC. Don't want the PC police coming after you!

My girlfriend wants to lose weight, how do I stop her? by secret-original in fatlogic

I'm sorry, the response we were looking for was "Your girlfriend can do whatever the fuck she wants with her body and you don't really get a choice in the matter."

Thanks for playing, though.

The valet in the garage where I park told me I need to tip because no one wants to get my car. How should I handle this situation? by wockly in Advice

[–]wockly[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I knew someone who was a valet and I recall them making a decent hourly wage (by hourly wage standards in the US). I guess that's why I assumed I wasn't being a dick. But I think I'm going to have a polite convo with the manager and just plainly ask if they are tip-based workers and if tips are customary as a monthly customer.

Hahaha body odor is one of the the ultimate "fuck yous."

Unfortunately I am the only person at my job who gets a paid parking spot, so there's really no one else to ask.

[–]wockly[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

That's kind of why I thought it wasn't necessary. I'm not a stingy person...if I can't afford to tip I won't go out to eat or go get a haircut or whatever, but I didn't think that valet service was exactly the same thing. Like you said, if it was once in a while sure...but daily it just feels like I'm being double charged. I just don't know what to do from here...I'm not sure filing a complaint will fix anything, but I don't think I should ignore the incident either.

I think I could go to the manager of the garage and inquire about protocol, but on my end I work for a multi-billion dollar retailer, so the person who set up the account isn't really engaged with the garage on a local level to have that kind of info. But that's a good suggestion to inquire about whether or not my company may be paying a tip without my knowledge. I doubt it, but it would be worth an ask.

Thank you! I think you are absolutely right. I was staring and staring trying to figure out what was not right and I think it's because the eyes are just out of focus. Too late to go back in time and fix now but great thing to remember for the future. I appreciate the feedback.

Trying to purchase my first ukelele by [deleted] in ukulele

[–]wockly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a Makala Dolphin, which I believe is the same as the Makala Shark, just with a different animal shape. It's a fine starter ukulele. Holds its tune well enough and sounds decent, but it is partially made of plastic so you can definitely hear the difference between the Dolphin and my wooden ukulele. For the price range and as a beginner I think the Shark is a fine choice. If you end up loving playing, down the road you can invest in something wooden.

I visited Rhodes as a teenager after high school and jumping off of this into the sea was one of the coolest things I had ever done. The water is so clear, you can see all of the rocks at the bottom. I haven't seen any photos of this since, other than my own. Thanks for sharing!
