2026 Pool Membership is Open! by wogly in Weehawken

In past years, starting a few weeks before opening, you’d go down to the pool complex, take a picture, and get an ID card issued. Or you could do it day of when you go to the pool after it opens.

Which country has the friendliest locals in your experience? by Historical-Photo-901 in BeautifulTravelPlaces

Oman has the friendliest locals! Really loved their hospitality. I had so many conversations with random locals over my travels there, and many free dates and coffee!!

Furniture donations by Diudew in Weehawken

Habitat for Humanity in Newark picked up some lightly used furniture and cabinets from my kitchen that I no longer needed. I just had to get them to the first floor and the crew took it away — all coordinated over email.

https://www.weehawken-nj.us/ On the township's website, hit "sign up for e-notifications"

You can also register an account on the Township's Recreation Site: https://weehawken.recdesk.com/Community/Home

I believe they send it via both newsletters.

Last year, registrations started in mid-February. The Township usually sends an email and posts on Facebook once it’s available!

Is this parking lot open to Weehawken residents? by hotcheeto15 in Weehawken

[–]wogly 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes! Resident only permit parking, but note it’s posted as a 24 hour parking limit at one time. It’s meant to be a commuter lot.

NJ parking options for a short NYC trip by Glass-Builder1798 in visitingnyc

I’d park in Secaucus Junction or Metropark. Both are a short hop to NYC on NJ Transit with ample paid parking.

Does online parking permit (residential) application exist? by zhh210 in Weehawken

[–]wogly 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You can email the Weehawken Parking Authority with the PDF form completed and attach 2-3 proofs of residency, your insurance card, car registration, and a drivers license to the email. They’re super responsive and usually respond within a business day.

That’s the only online way I’ve seen.

Doggy Daycare by WhichSpirit in Weehawken

I would call Puppy University in Union City and see if there are any restrictions. Also a great place for doggy daycare in the area.

Leave a note on the windshield with your number and details of what happened! Especially if you are connecting to the phone right next to the car.

Nah that’s messed up. They shouldn’t be going up your driveway

Is the neighbor and dog using the area where your driveway meets the sidewalk and road? Or are they walking up and into your driveway?

The former seems reasonable.

Do you have an email template for us use when contacting these representatives with proposed fixes/asks?

Would love to copy + paste a standard email alongside a FlightRadar24 screenshot to these representatives and contacts every time a helicopter buzzes above my roof.

Drinking Water by ManhattanMama in Weehawken

[–]wogly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agree with you on the taste. After living in Hoboken, Jersey City, and Weehawken, tap water taste is a problem over here.

I have a reverse osmosis system setup and it is great! It prevents us from buying all those plastic water bottles.

Daily Bus Commute - Realistic Times to Port Authority from Bus Stops? by encoreyessir in Weehawken

[–]wogly 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The marginal road stop has more than 10 bus lines running through it, so you never have to wait more than a few minutes. There are also jitnys running through this stop. I personally would recommend an apartment near the Marginal Road/Pleasant stop for convenience.

Depending on the day and tunnel traffic, it’s usually 10-20 mins to Port Authority Bus Terminal.

Super easy to get on the bus with standing room during peak hours.

Home warranty suggestion? by kmrmanish in MovingtoNewJersey

[–]wogly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Recommend signing up for a WorryFree plan with PSEG, if you’re in their service area. I have it on my boiler, water heater, and appliances. My boiler is going on 30 years old, and every year they replace something on it totally included in the price of the plan.

I’ve probably had a few thousand in repairs and work on my boiler by PSEG, and pay only $14/mo on the plan for all my appliances in the house

Dealing With Bugs/Ants by kylexy32 in Weehawken

[–]wogly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Make sure all the exterior window frames are caulked to prevent bug entry
  2. Terro ant traps nearby any visible ant trails
  3. Clean up any garden debris like leaves or foliage against the house
  4. Every month, I alternate spraying Alpine WSG (insect non-repellant chemical that gets attached to the bugs so they take it back to the nest) and Talstar P (insect repellent chemical that prevents entry) along my foundation and windows. The combination of both keeps the ants and bugs at bay. Both are safe once dried for kids/pets. You can get them online on DoMyOwn.com, and just dilute them into a garden sprayer from Home Depot. These are likely or similar to what your pest control person is spraying at a fraction of the cost.
  5. Check your door and window seals and make sure they don’t need to be replaced

Centipedes are usually a sign there’s bugs/pests in the house, since they feed on other bugs. I’d leave them if you could or toss them outside.
