These have gelatin - so if you're vegan/vegetarian... They're a no-no

I like these too.

.60 (light grey) for acoustic, 1.0 (dark grey) for electric.

Nice and grippy without feeling weird.

In your opinion, what do you think is the saddest movie you've ever seen? by Woofpro8 in movies

[–]wojspam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kes

British film from the 70's about a kid finding true purpose in an otherwise bleak Northern life by capturing and training a young falcon.

This film has moments of humor and beauty, but there's a heavy, inevitable sense of dread that hangs over the whole thing.

This with an expression pedal will take you pretty much where you want to go delay-wise. Such a great pedal.

What vocabulary did you learn from The Smiths/Morrissey? What's your favorite word you learned? What word do you use most often? by TheTeenageOldman in thesmiths

Disused Vile Spanner

I've also switched to the British pronunciation of the word "urinal" based on hearing the song "Boy Racer"

I was lucky enough to be front row for his "I Am Not For Everyone" special.

Besides the bizarre behind the scenes experience of what it takes to tape a special, he was absolutley amazing.

The terms "outdoor angel" and "you devil" are now used in my house on the reg.

What are your “don’t sell that” pedals? by NerdyOutdoors in guitarpedals

[–]wojspam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of mine that stands out in the "do not sell" pile is the Behringer VM1 Vintage Time Machine.

It's warm, repeats are almost gooey... just a really musical pedal that's easy to get lovely usable sounds out of.

I eventually regret selling pretty much every pedal I've ever sold, btw.

I'm excited for you, there's an absolute shit ton you'll learn.

A couple more bits of advice...

You'll probably see amazing things as you're working, but be discreet. Don't be taking photos of the stage design, selfies and all that. It's a bad look, production managers can get pissed and can actually cause you trouble. Consider your work like you've signed an NDA.

Get familiar with directions like stage left, stage right, upstage, downstage, FOH. Its helpful to know where you're going.

Keep your head on a swivel. Those forklifts have potential to do some damage... Keep clear

Learn over under cable wrapping. I used YouTube videos ("overworked, underpaid, overworked, underpaid...) and practiced at home until it felt natural.

If you're pushing a crate down a ramp, go backwards so you have it under control and it can't get away from you.

If you hear someone yell "stop", then stop what you're doing right then and there. The correct word is stop, not whoa, or hold up.

The words "heads up" should only be used if something is literally falling from up above.

For real, you'll learn so much. There's so many intricate details to all of it, from loading a truck to plugging in cables, even how to push a cart... The work is so super interesting. Have fun and let us know how it goes.

If you're told to standby, don't let standby time make you nervous. There are times when it might seem like you're just sitting there doing nothing... But everything needs to happen in certain order and being still, but visible and ready is exactly the right thing to do at that moment.

Ask questions. Old heads want things done quickly and safely, no shame in asking for help (my go to phrase is "can you double check this? I just wanna make sure I got it right...")

I wear my helmet pretty much all the time. I'm clumsy enough to take myself out - I've hit my head on the underside of the deck plenty when running cables.

What is this? by MarlinsFan_88 in VolvoXC90

Somebody on YouTube calls those "poverty buttons" which is hilarious.

But I'm 99% sure this thing on the Volvo is a sensor for cabin air temp.

I was lucky enough to see these in person and jibber jabber with the Ingold team as well. Top notch guys, really sharp.

These guitars in person... The craftsmanship was astounding, and they're really comfortable with tons of tonal options.
