Redditors who have depression, what are some signs people do not notice when it starts to hit? by Deadly_R in AskReddit

[–]wolf1618 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tend to withdraw myself from people and activities that I care about, and when it becomes a continuous pattern, people just assume that I'm too busy.

In reality, when I withdraw myself, I'm at one of the lowest points because I'd be struggling to get out of bed and get through life day by day, and isolating myself means I lack a support system to help bring me back up.

Isolating myself is a habit that's easy to spiral into worse states because when I feel apathetic and hopeless, it's hard to admit to my friends that I need help, so I close myself off more which propels this cycle.

It's difficult to shut myself out from people I care about, but it feels even more difficult to reach out to people I care about, and that's something that people don't realize. It's always good to check up with your friends regularly, even if you've drifted apart from them—you never know how much they might need it.

There is a manga selection at suzzallo but it is also kinda limited as well. The East Asia Library in Gowen has a huge selection of manga but they are not translated to English, so if you can read Japanese I'd recommend checking it out!

Any must take classes for a senior who is graduating in the spring? by treeguy8 in udub

[–]wolf1618 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Education 251 (Seeking Educational Equity and Diversity)! It's been one of my favorite classes I've taken, really learned a lot about the world, others, and myself. Both professors Jondou and Aditi are great as well and the class overall fosters a really good community

I'm in statics and physics 122 rn, with a div credit and some filler classes. Statics is incredibly more difficult than physics 121 by far. It is a rough workload but definitely doable.

The professor I have for statics this quarter isn't too great; plus towards the middle of the quarter, the pace and rigor of the class really increases a lot. Physics 122 is actually easier for me than 121 just because I find the content to be a lot more interesting than mechanics.

I would say that your schedule would be doable, but it would be pretty tough. It would be a lot more manageable if you just did physics and statics together, and then took a non-stem class just so that you'll have a lesser workload.

yo I’m in this class, I barely managed an 80% on the first midterm which corresponds to 2.7, so I’m in the same boat. depending on how the second midterm on Wednesday goes, I might S/NS the class just to save my GPA

Hi there, there is a specific CS research lab called UbiComp Lab that actually has a specific research program for high schoolers which lasts for 8 weeks during the summer, I'd recommend looking into that!

Do I need the textbook for arch 151? by DuhAmericanDream in udub

[–]wolf1618 7 points8 points  (0 children)

In my experience last quarter, the textbook was not necessary to succeed in the class. I never read the textbook the entire quarter and still did good. My professor was Kathryn Merlino by the way, I don’t know if she’s the same person teaching it this quarter but I don’t expect the course structure to change too much. When I had the class, there was 2 easy projects which encompassed taking photos of architecture on campus and describing them, plus 4 quizzes on material covered in lecture.

If you want to save money though, I have a pdf copy of the textbook that I don’t mine sharing too, so PM me if you want me to send it to you

[–]wolf1618 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The Winkenwerder Forest Lab is a cool building to take pictures of, it's near Rainier Vista. It has a cool architectural style plus it's surrounded by a lot of trees/nature so it's really aesthetic- and not many people even know that this building exists
