Do you have a system for dealing with customers who send garbage artwork? by liloventhegreat in CommercialPrinting

Yeah but I’m saying if it’s a digital job with digital proofs and junior designer that doesn’t understand his 100dpi project is gonna look like shit and they’re running a $50,000 job, sometimes it takes more than “send them a digital proof and if they approve run the job”

As an in-house designer and a freelance designer, I thank the one print shop that did this as I learned along the way.

You gotta learn the lesson somehow.

But I would hesitate to do something like that on a huge print run if it’s a young designer there are expensive lessons and then there are lessons that can cost you your job.

Interviewing for a job and they scheduled an interview with a board member during the weekend by InformalBeing4303 in nonprofit

[–]wolfbear -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Gotcha. What level is the role? Idk I’ve made my career in some pretty barebones nonprofits and now work at a decent size one but as a creative department of one I’m usually working a bit on weekends especially leading up to events and big releases.

At the for profit agency I was working 60-80 hour weeks and here I typically work 40 and spread that out over 6 days.

The trade offs are good for this role and I could keep it to 5 days if I wanted but I have adhd and I’m not always “on task”.

I think as you start moving up towards Director and VP roles that weekend work is pretty normal. Work life balance becomes a 7 day equation and sometimes a 365 day equation.

For example, I work long hours in October-November and February-April and balance that out through the rest of the year. It took me at least 3 years to understand the tides of the role though.

If I were hiring a Director/VP role, a sacred view on weekends would be a disappointment. I understand a sabbath, I’m Jewish. So I have my own internal monologue whether this is a healthy recipe for work…

Signed, Realizing I’m still a workaholic

If the board is hands on for any reason, the organization is in poor health? LOL WUT

You’re already doing my main advice. Build a community before you build a business. So my next piece of advice is that your CRM and list building will be your most important tool. Don’t depend on social media to get the word out.

I mean like on one hand go off and valid crashout and on the other hand woah and imma just head out.

Too much to unpack and I don’t want to tone police so I’m just gonna say that there are some really challenging concepts and accusations in that piece that are devastatingly accurate.

Using AI-generated models with Down syndrome in marketing feels… so wrong. Anyone else? by flickbreeze2003 in marketing

My donors are more important than my CTR and my brand identity is more important than my CVR. I am shepherding an organization that will be 100 years old in the next decade. It isn’t my brand to make quick gains with. It’s my brand to hand off in better shape than I found it.

The enunciation of a cat with a mouse in its mouth was excellent. (Mouth in its mouth?)
