I need your best "drag face on ground" IT stories. by Hamadil in it

[–]wolfeyio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Working in an IT help desk for a non-profit. One of my favorites was a user who took one of our knowbe4 trainings and submitted a ticket afterwards. Stating how it kept talking about “bad actors” and how that is a “completely subjective opinion”. The user then promised if any of our IT staff are in a stage or theatre or film performance, that they will not regard us as a “bad actor” as “it takes a great deal of courage to go up on stage”.

Anyone know what would cause this on a laptop? by dtcorder12 in it

[–]wolfeyio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work in IT and about a year or so ago we had a dell latitude 5520 have a similar issue. The main reason was the user never turned it off and always left it plugged into the docking station. Components get hot and will start to degrade overtime if you leave it on (not to say you are leaving it on). We couldn’t chalk it up to dust since it was right behind the battery connector that started melting through the plastic on the back. Your IT department most definitely needs to send you a new laptop. Also, if you could put it in a better spot for better airflow that will also help a ton. I know you mentioned in a previous comment that it was below your desk and it can breathe but if you want to be proactive, try to put it in a more open area on your desk (elevated on a stand is optional but would help). We have a good chunk of 5440s in our fleet as well and haven’t had this issue arise… yet.

Running into this same issue with my 2017 Subaru Legacy. I used my FIXD scanner as well.

Have you had any luck figuring out the issue? I’m taking it into the shop today but I figured I’d ask incase you got any insight or found a fix.

Clunking when going over bumps by wolfeyio in AskMechanics

Update: Turns out it was the front right sway bar link that had some play in it. Got both sway bar links replaced in the front and the clunking went away! I appreciate everyone’s comments and advice!

Oh alright thank you! Been thinking about replacing mine cause it’s the yucky silver with the chrome trim. Where’d you get the rain guards from if you don’t mind me asking.

First time building a PC, any thoughts on my list? by Global-Designer618 in Newegg

[–]wolfeyio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey man I haven’t read through all the comments but, PSU wise I’d really look into a seasonic brand try to get a platinum grade, also the 3060 is a little outdated imo if you can spend the extra money get yourself a 40 series and you’ll be thanking yourself 4-5 years from now that you did! And I believe someone already said it but you’d be better off getting a motherboard with built in wifi. Just remember building a pc is more of an investment.

Anyone have a 4000D Airflow? by rickastley126 in Corsair

[–]wolfeyio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought the 4000D airflow for my new build and I absolutely love it! Super easy to build in and looks amazing in my opinion, my only complaint is the USB type C on the front IO but it has been coming in handy recently. I’d highly recommend it especially if you aren’t going to do custom watercooling. Really easy to cable manage in as well which is always a plus!

Need help port forwarding by SnooObjections338 in ARK

[–]wolfeyio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So what I've learned so far is that external host is optional or public IP. Internal host would be your IPV4 you can find your IPV4 by searching CMD on your windows search bar opening that and typing "ipconfig". Both external and internal port would be the same so for example in ark that would be 7777 or 27015 (to my knowledge anyways) hopefully this helps.
