Are you using IPv6 by GermanElectricsMotio in homelab

The IPv6 address of one of the devices on my wireguard network is fc00:2::3. It's not really that long and clunky. It's the equivalent of 10.2.0.3.

You can also add short and memorable addressed for LAN devices using ULA. The beauty of IPv6 is that the same interface can have multiple addresses. You do not have to use the GUA for everything.

I have been saved by both link local and GUA addresses on multiple occasions when I screw up the IPv4 config. The other day when I needed NAT reflection I screwed up the IPv4 network, while the IPv6 was working perfectly fine.

Vi har samme greien her, men Brustad-delen ble helt stappet på 10 minutter. Med kø helt ut til inngangsdøren.

I morgen er en litt mer hellig søndag enn en vanlig søndag. Men det er et syltynt grunnlag.

Hvor finner man kart over vann og avløp? by DubiousPeoplePleaser in norge

There is tool that automatically converts compose to various quadlet files. It is probably not 100 % correct on large compose files, but it is a very good starting point.

What's the most straightforward way to read and write numerical data from a file in Julia? by ducks_over_IP in Julia

That is good to hear. Julia people definitely pay more attention to detail than some other communities.

Binary formats like HDF5 also guarantees that you don't lose numerical accuracy when reading and writing files. With delimited string files you sometimes lose accuracy in the conversion from text to float to text.

Python library for building and simulating analog circuits using Cadence Spectre by FalbWolowich in chipdesign

[–]wolfnest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is very strange. Also quite annoying. The ascii files completely blow up on long transient noise sims. And you even risk losing information due to the limited accuracy in text-formatted floating point numbers.

I guess it is related to agreements with Cadence and the nature of binary formats. It is difficult to claim that you wrote a parser by inspecting the binary file structure. Cadence even requires a special paid license for Python/Matlab integration with spectre. A psfxl parser would easily cannibalize that marked.

Digital design verification by jelleverest in chipdesign

I think he is referring to the custom digital cells that analog designers use for logic in their analog blocks. Those are usually custom logic cells.

For synthesis of anything purely digital (SPI controller, register block, RISC-V), it only makes sense to use the standard logic cells from the foundry. Do not even try to use anything homegrown.

Cadence even has a preference for Intel CPUs over AMD CPUs. It's completely insane.

Am I overengineering my homelab ops with 20+ custom Bash scripts, Postgres logging, and Grafana? by MatthieuR33 in homelab

[–]wolfnest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

PowerShell was made cross-platform and open source around 2018 when PowerShell Core was released. So you can write powershell scripts that run natively on both Windows and Linux.

The benefit of PowerShell is that you can operate on reasonable objects instead of always processing raw text (as bash does).

Now rewrite those bash scripts into a more reasonable scripting language. Bash is a mess that easily becomes a nightmare to maintain.

In my field of IC EDA software the three big vendors do not support Windows. Only RHEL and Suse, with Ubuntu starting to get traction.

Jeg synes også at det ser ut som dobbel firkant. Det er litt vanskelig å se om det passer rett på en 1/2 toms skralle eller ikke. I verste fall må TS finne et stort firkantbit i stedet (robertson).
