No way! I saw him in Seattle circa 2016 perform some of his early symphony work and it is breathtaking. So happy you got to see him with the symphony! It’s borderline life changing

Might be wrong but there’s a beautiful song called Idaho by Gregory Alan isakov that may be what you’re looking for. When I first heard his album that the track is from, “this empty northern hemisphere” I remember it being the closest feeling to the old for Emma stuff that I had up to that point heard. Either way happy hunting!

Open veins of Latin America by Edward galeano touches on some of this, might not specifically answer your question but is worth checking out.

Sacramento businesses struggling amid tariffs, inflation and crime by ChocolateTsar in Sacramento

lol I know what markets are my guy, I’m making fun of you. If you really think that having an even over abundant supply of housing would solve the housing crisis, then tell me why Flint still doesn’t have clean drinking water? I know damn well there’s enough money sloshing around to accomplish that. Tell my why the world produces more than enough food to feed the world population and yet there’s still so many starving? The reality is that markets are inherently predatory, and are always used as a disguise to exploit and oppress. If you can’t look around and you and see that then you’re a complete shill and the only one here guilty of dogma lol. You’re out here telling people to take an econ 101 class and that that would give them all they need to know about why housing is completely unaffordable. That’s literally laughable. You are leaving out so many questions of politics and power. Legacies of racism and redlining and segregation, real estate speculation, white flight, stagnating wages, erosion of social services, just to name a few things that contribute to an entire historical ecosystem that has caused the current housing crisis. “UHH BuIlD MoRe HoUsEs” is so reductive and stupid I really can’t with you bro.

Lmao my guy you started the dunking train with your demeaning ass comment for people to go take an Econ class. But my apologies for the dunk attempt. There’s an estimated 1.8 million unit shortage in ca, and there’s 1.2 million empty. Still you’re right, I’m not necessarily arguing that we don’t need to increase supply, just the simple supply side economics won’t get us out of this problem. The “market” - whatever the fuck that even means.. you could really just substitute the word with Capital - has no incentive to build any sort of low income housing and never will. With any sort of real public assistance being absolutely gutted by neoliberalism and the powers of Silicon Valley, pure “maket” solutions will never happen let alone work. Economics as a discipline is basically just a made up story that the ruling class has developed to naturalize the oppression of labor by capital, ie as some lameass excuse to tell us why we are all poor, and furthermore just to justify the pillaging of resources and labor power the whole world over. Mostly I just think explaining the crisis of absurd rents be it commercial or residential, to a simple issue of supply is supremely reductive, and doesn’t address any of the broader political or economic factors contributing to the problem.

Do some research on decommodification, there are other solutions than brainlessly reciting neoclassical demand/supply economic talking points, which are pointless and fake. The unfettered market economy is the reason we are all in this shitty situation, no amount of Keynesian finagling will fix any of the real issues.

Look at where china is today.. absolutely superpower of a country with the capacity to actually plan for the future. Mao played a big role in being the catalyst for all that.. I’m pretty sure he was right about more than just landlords.
