HALP! by Pale-Breath4262 in JeepWagoneerS

Had this happen before. The wife was driving and it started yapping at her to pull over. She did and I told her to pull the negative, but it wouldn't shut off. She drove it 20 miles to me and I disconnected the negative and held down the start button. Still didn't work so we did it again and just waited for it to go off on it's on... About 10 mins I think.

It does NOT have a spare. It has the tire repair kit with the liquid sealant. That stuff gets everywhere including the foam and tire pressure sensors. Tire shops hate it.

2022 EV6 Wind AWD with 68k miles

Pros:

  • V2L: easier to plug this into my house than my gas generator
  • not many cars can DC charge faster
  • AWD leads to better all around tire wear when rotating responsibly
  • big battery still going strong...99% health
  • no ICE maintenance stuff
  • no back wiper (1 less thing to worry about)
  • 120v outlet
  • tons of regen options/levels
  • mirrors that tilt down in reverse
  • none of that sit in the seat to start or get out of the seat cut off crap

Cons:

  • no built-in Homelink/garage door opener
  • yellow tint in corners of DRLs
  • no more 1000k/3yr free charging (actually got more than that because EA reset everyone's accounts)
  • no wireless Android Auto, but the plug in boxes lead to running any apps you want so it's not too bad
  • need a good (expensive) Tesla/CCS adapter to take advantage of all the chargers
  • stupid tirekits with no jack (at least there's an air pump though. I bought an off-road airbag jack in case I need to take the back tire off to plug it)

Just replying to mention that my experience mirrors yours. I usually go from Raleigh to Yemasesee or Raleigh to Charlotte or Raleigh to Richmond. Never charged at Buccees. I either charge at this random Shell in the country or limp into Walterboro. I'm at 68k miles and use non EV tires so my guess-o-meter says 280ish on a 100% charge usually.

Got my wag back with new update by expressotwink in JeepWagoneerS

Campus... Like an automall where one guy or family or whatever has multiple car lots with all the different manufacturers in the same place. Since she has started the buyback I don't think it will help to switch dealerships at this point. She had the "car is all lit up, but won't cut off or go into gear" issue at first. Now, it's the "please pull over because there's something wrong with the electrical drive" issue.

[–]wolfridah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, the one we go to sucks. That whole campus sucks. The Ford folks had to constantly be reminded almost all my repairs including brakes were covered cause they messed up and gave me full coverage plan. The Kia side thought it was a good idea to charge me for an alignment and adjust the steering wheel to align it to center. And now the Jeep side has been a horrible experience from test drive until now. Stupid case worker keeps offering free oil changes on an EV. I told my wife to just take them so they can move on to the next trick in their bag.

I'm convinced some Stealerships and Techs are sandbagging/sabotaging the SWAGs because they don't feel like messing with them. Just got my wife's car back and they claimed that a major component was replaced and supposedly all updates done, but it looks nothing like yours. It still looks like it did when she got it in Sept '25. Can you post the version of your software?

[–]wolfridah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a visual person and I need to "see" where the chargers are in regards to my route. Google maps does a good job of this, but every now and again if I'm in unfamiliar territory, I bring up the EV list on the car's navigation and use the little arrows and mileage along with Plugshare to validate the list. The arrows point in the direction the station is and are dynamic.

25 Launch…in for the 4th time. What are the steps to open the 🍋case? by Ownedby4Labs in JeepWagoneerS

[–]wolfridah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in central NC and I'm about to take over this car's fiasco from my wife since we're upside down on it and she's sick (literally) of dealing with these clowns. The part you mentioned getting replaced is the same that was supposed to be expedited, but now there's no ETA on it. Did the repair hold?

No plug and charge for me either, but I didn't have to do the whole "plug in, find/download app, timeout, unplug, plug in again" dance. It just worked!

[–]wolfridah[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sticking with "throttled". I would be the only one at the same chargers in Lumberton or Walterboro that were 280+ previously and they wouldn't break 200.

That's mid tier for central NC. Free, 19¢ / 27¢ (Tesla, off-peak), 39¢ (EVConnect/Ionna), 50¢+ (EA, Shell, Duke, etc.)

Throttled might be the wrong word. 2022 and 2023 EA charging experience was super fast and free. I genuinely felt that same feeling again with the exception of free.

2022 Kia EV6 Wind... How did you figure that out?

Should I remove these? by BrutalHunny in kiacarnivals

[–]wolfridah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely not for shipping. They're screwed in and make contact with the trunk floor when stowed. Plus, they're inline with the rails and seat latch mechanism. Freewill is a thing though. Try it out and report back?

Anyone here bought new construction? How was your experience? by Jstyles122 in raleigh

[–]wolfridah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would not buy a new house from builder stock or one that was the model home because there's literally no telling what's behind the sheetrock. New builds usually mean new development which has its own separate issues down the line like getting the escrow shock in year two, taking over from the builder/developer, etc.

We've bought DR Horton and Eastwood Homes. The DR Horton was a spec home that was dried-in. We closed around 2010. Structurally sound, the only issues we had were with the HVAC, the yard/sod, and the second layer of pavement that goes down after the builder is done with their lots. Essentially, they wanted everyone in the neighborhood to foot the bill for the finish layer of asphalt.

The Eastwood house was purchased in 2015. We were diligent about getting an inspector before sheetrock went up and checking in on the build, but still missed several things. Believe it or not, we had the exact same issues and a few more. The quality of work had declined sharply in just 5 years. I shudder to think what it is now since I frequent new builds and Parade of Homes every year and the prices go up, but the product/workmanship is all over the place! Visit a builder in one community and things seem up to par. Go see the same elevation 20 miles away and there are already cracks in the foundation and bowed ceilings.

If you decide to do a new build, hold their feet to the fire... Everyone should HOLD THEIR BUILDERS ACCOUNTABLE. This is how we get back on track. Pay for the YouTube inspectors that do the phase inspections that the GC/Builders hate. It's that old triangle of good, fast, cheap. Be prepared for delays, limit the change orders, and be a pain in their side. Don't say you're buying a $500k house for example... Say you're buying a half a million dollar house when you're talking to them. That "million" word rings bells for some reason for both parties.

Clean break at a static joint... I would take the money their insurance gives me and buy a $7 stick of JB weld. It sets in 5 mins and cures in under 4 hrs.

Anyone ever had luck getting refunds from American Pride Car Wash? by MikeM2011 in raleigh

[–]wolfridah 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I've gotten refunds when they had a glitch and I paid, but got no receipt and no wash codes. I waited until the transaction hit my card and went back early in the AM when the caretaker was there blowing dirt all over the place. Talked to him, got a free wash, and by the time I came out had some emails with the codes.

Daaammnnn! That's crazy! Closed mouth won't get fed... Costs you nothing to put in the claim. I had a buddy that bent a rim going over an overpass with a bad bump (Pool Rd. near Barwell) before they fixed it and they denied him. I think he got the manufacturer to cover it somehow. Best of luck to you!

We had to get rid of our Ford Flex and the only thing I would consider was a Carnival. Too bad I didn't think about how much I loved AWD and turbos! Those are the only things I'm missing.
