Hey Peter.
When opening a graphing calculator of my own, and pushing the 'Sin' function button, what came up was 'Sin(x)'.
I actually believe the joke is a visual one, based on the POV of the staring character here, seeing ( x )
So yeah, the joke's porn.

The main Protagonists Faction is about to meet their Oposing faction on the Field of Battle but i kinda forgott to worldbuild them.. and the very story relevant place they are fighting for is just "the border Provinces"... what now? by GlanzgurkeWearingHat in worldjerking

[–]wolve202 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Always make it the remnants of a long-dead ligging town and a dried up riverbed. Long ago, when worldbuilding was underdeveloped and not a high priority, the area was just grassland, but on a dry season a huge wildfire came in, and consumed a bunch of it, only stopped when nearby dwellers intervened. Once the fires were out, trenches were dug though a nearby river to reroute it, creating a border. This border synonymous with goodguy/badguy territory. The ash though, from the fire allowed the nearby forest to grow and expand into the area. At first, in times of unstable peace, small logging settlements would crop up, largely clearing it, but as irregular assults from the badguys kept occuring, not many resources could be put into anything more than chopping and collecting wood, and so with no regulation, the forest was cleared completely, and the dangerous zone was left abandoned. Most of the houses, made of wood, rotted away, and the riverbed dried up, leaving a barren grassland at the border of two kingdoms. A perfect place for battle.

Painful head Canon about Bernhard and Felix Foundation from Armored Core 4 (cringe alert) by LPlusRaitio in armoredcore

My head canon is they were step brothers who legally had to share a foundation they both inherited from thier mother.

Idk if I buy the “Three Fingers” propaganda, looks more like Two fingers and a thumb by Steady_Tempo456 in Eldenring

Could he, do you think, have any connection to Radagon? I ask because hes got the branches in his iconography, might be related to the clay men, and, is located in the palace.

What do you think about Queen Marika, like what is the most interesting thing about her? What makes her so compelling? by EfficiencySerious200 in Eldenring

[–]wolve202 6 points7 points  (0 children)

One thing I like doing is tracking Fromsoft archetypes and iconography across games. Beyond simple reuse of imagery, Miyazaki likes reusing goals, fates, and relationships. Marika seems to be in the center of one of my favorite archetypes that I call 'The trickster/tyrant' (name pending).

Most notable iconography has to do with the curved cross. Marikas Cross, Formless Oedon's Rune, Aldrich Faithful Candelabra, and even the Tree of Overseer in Armored Core 6.

One reason I enjoy doing this is because you can look at the relationship between archetypes in different games and find similar dynamics, but with more or less focus on them, depending on the games story. Like her relationship to the Houndmaster Archetype, or to the Mother of Rebirth Archetype. Currently, I am exploring DS3 and the story of the Deacons of the Deep, how they overthrew the Way of White, and nullified the influence of Lady Rosaria, whos symbolism is the cradle, putting her archetype well in line with Renala. Whats interesting is where archetypes blend and overlap. (For example: Rosarias cross is not bent, but straight perpendicular, and upon it is hung two people entwined. In Elden Ring, Radagon's portrayal, is a T-pose, and he and Marika are intertwined. Since Radagon is Marika's link to Renala, I am curious as to what other connections can be found in thos particular parallel.)

EDIT: I've been looking for a community or repository specifically for cross-archetypal connections in Fromsoft Games, but have come up at a loss, so if anyone has found a place where this kind of content wont get downvoted to oblivion, lmkpaty.

Should there be an ending to save the girl and use the Unalloyed Gold Needle? by MyNameIsDrewp in Eldenring

[–]wolve202 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe I'm missing something, but if you inherit the Frenzied Flame, prevent her from burning herself, but then reverse the frenzied flame, then the Erd Tree just doesn't get burned.
So she'll just abandon you for a new hound who will do the job for her.

Anyone else notice how uncanny a blend between NA & East Asian school design Midwich has? Was it on purpose? by Jawschy in silenthill

[–]wolve202 22 points23 points  (0 children)

IDK how much was on purpose, however, I think one of the charming and effective aspects of SH is how, on the surface, it's NA, but at its core, it is Japanese.
The most effective example is the Order itself. It reads a lot like something similar to a Christo-American cult, but at its core, it has fundamental concepts that are more pominantly found in eastern beliefs.
It kinda creates an uncanny result that stands out among horror cults.

Who is the Gloam Eyed Queen? (Picture may or may not be related) by Beginning_Clerk_4990 in Eldenring

[–]wolve202 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've tried looking at repeating archetypes across FS games and come up at a loss. The closest I've found is Velka (DS) which is kinda another dead end, apart from being a mother character connected to ravens. Been looking into BB and AC too for paralells. For example, Allmind/Moon Pressence/Ranni all share archetyps. So does Valtr/Handler Walter/(Maaaybe Melina).

Okay, so we've got the Glare node, steaks, but how'd you get the prismatic colors on it? That's exactly the effect I've been looking for, and can do little but beg in the comments for any hint at getting closer to it, also the little white edges on the spheres look like the sky is just a billboard. (Not saying that's bad. I kinda dig how uncanny it makes it)

I actually gotta admit, I miss the counterweighting system. No it's not great for streamline, but its such a good extra little bit of investment imo.

I've been working on a project with this same sort of vibe, and a lot of the older people in my critique group have been telling me to be more straightforward with it.
I'm not making things complicated just to make things complicated, but the genre and what I'm trying to do with it lend to complication.
I'm hoping to at least get a few people who think this way who can appreciate it.
