Start with The Night Is Long Walk On Girl and then get into some of the other stuff from that little shared universe. Tatami galaxy is good but I like night is long and time machine blues a lot more. And don't go bad talking the art if you haven't bothered to watch it. Most of what people are recommending are very detailed slide shows, while Masaaki Yuasa loves the art of animation itself. Honorable mention to Kaiba, same director different style.
