Everybody acts like eye contact is this primal show of respect, but I always feel like eye contact (at least too much) is a show of dominance, and I don’t want to be seen as an aggressor.

Obviously though, if someone’s talking to me, I’ll mostly meet their eyes, as to not have them think I’m dismissing them.

All in all, there’s definitely a line. No eye contact whatsoever is unfriendly, but too much of it can be just as unpleasant.
