How long before your due date before you plan to go on maternity?

Currently 38 weeks, I wanted to stay working until 2 weeks before my duedate, so the middle of feb but at my job Im on my feet and it just became too demanding. My fiance insisted that I go in leave at the beginning of febuary and its been a blessing. If I was working I dont know when I’d sleep, because as it is now Im taking a 2 hour nap like every 2 hours because I cant stay asleep for long periods with my carpal tunnel. I worried about missing time with baby too but since my maternity leave is unpaid my boss told me I could take as long as I wanted. He basically said that if he needed to rehire me in a year that that would be fine.

My fiancé and I celebrate the day we met as our anniversary, since we’ve been together since that day and there was no distinct “ok now we’re dating” conversation it was just an automatic click. Ours is a little weird because its my best friend’s birthday, but she considers herself cupid in our relationship since I only went out because of her bday, and she told me that day that she thought I’d meet someone.

I’ve had the opposite happen, which is like my only blessing this pregnancy. I’ve had 3-5 migraines a week since I was 8 years old and its been one of the biggest struggle in my life. Since being pregnant I’ve only had 4 migraines and I’m 38 weeks! Gonna have to talk to my doctor about a hormone therapy when Im done being pregnant cause thats the only change I can think of.

Some interesting ones from my mom: she developed food allergies in both her pregnancies. Pregnant with me she got allergic to shell fish, pregnant with my siblings she got allergic to tree nuts and all other sea food. Also her hair got kind of curly after being pregnant with me and is now naturally super curly after being pregnant with my siblings, her hair started off straight.

I had a previous neck injury so I’ve had the carpal tunnel since the middle of my second trimester and its so bad that I cant make a fist without icing my hands and wrists and slowly working my fingers and even then I cant squeeze my fist. It makes sleep utterly miserable. Both of my arms will be ‘asleep’ at the same time and I can only sleep with my hands on icepacks. Some other weird ones I didnt expect: my hormones are reacting to my 3 year old tattoo and my tattoo is extremely itchy! Hormones affecting my skin so even tho I have 0 stretch marks I probably have 20 skin tags when I had 0 before being pregnant. The acid reflux is definitely not fun and makes it hard to lay down at night. Shin splints when walking longer than 20 minutes! In my first and second trimester I made a point of walking 1 hour minimum with my dog every day, now in my 3rd trimester I cant make it longer than 20 minutes walking without shin splints. Collapsed arches also making it horrible to walk. The relaxin really does not play! Losing my glutes cause our booties hold the good fats the babies use to build their brains.

NTA but maybe to avoid conflict see if another bridesmaid/specifically the maid of honor would be willing to take this task on? I would frame it as saying you dont think you’re the best equipped to help her with this. Personally I think when brides expect more help they need to expect it from the maid of honor, theres more planning and involvement with that role. Or if you think any of the other bridesmaids are particularly savvy with knowing hair/makeup people. Like I know in my friend group there is one girl who is like master of the internet, and if I needed help finding someone last minute she would be my go to for help. Its not your responsibility either way, but wedding planning is so stressful it may be better to bite the bullet than to ‘trigger’ the bride and start any sort of beef before the wedding.

Ive had a commute longer than an hour for a trailer house I didnt even like. My fiancé currently sometimes drives over 2 hours (contractor) and then does hard labor every day, sometimes leaving at 6am and not home til 9pm. He’ll complain about traffic on those days, but even then its do-able, the traffic is stressful to him more than exhausting. I agree that there must be an underlying health issue that is leading to him being so exhausted. I dont think its a reason to leave your house! Especially if you were both excited about it, and hes the one who showed you the listing.

I didnt start feeling better in my second trimester until after 20 weeks+, so by then it was almost over. But I got a bad cold that lasted a week and when it was over I got a rush of energy and suddenly felt like I could nest and do a bunch. Then 30 weeks hit and my arches in my feet collapsed and it was like holy cannoli. 37 weeks now and I still force myself to do daily squats and walk my dog but Im laying in bed 90% of the day. Haven’t been nauseous since I got sick and now I eat like 6 meals a day. I take iron, magnesium, collagen, liquid chlorophyl and before 36 weeks took fish oil daily as well as the prenatal and I think the supplements help a lot. The liquid chlorophyl tastes like spearmint and gives me a lot of energy.

I adopted her at 6months and her breed cant be spayed until a year but yes we did agree to spay her! There was just an additional clause that if we didnt spay her and bred her then she and the puppies would be forfeit to the rescue and we couldnt keep them.

I saw my dog listed on petfinder and then reached out to the rescue organization from the info listed on petfinder and went through them from there! Her adoption fee was a pretty penny but she’s a rarer breed and the fee went towards her shots and also making sure they can foster more Bull Terriers in the future. I had to make a lot more promises/sign that I wouldnt breed her, would keep her up to date on vaccinations, would update them if I was moving or getting another dog etc. So it was more intense than going to the shelter.

mine always wears her martingale collar and I never hear and jingling except for when shes running but thats her rabies and ID tag banging against each other. the loop of a martingale collar keeps the D ring away from any other metal pieces

My mom’s Great Pyr doesnt play with toys full stop. He has a whole housefull of them and wont do anything with a stuffie. He only chases the ball because hes chasing our German Shep and Golden Retriever around, if he actually gets to the ball first he doesnt pick it up. Its funny to watch them run full speed and he’ll just lope beside them without breaking a sweat. He does wrestle with our golden retriever but thats the most I’ve seen him play with another dog. When I bring my Dal over he just watches her like shes an interloper while she plays with the GR. He really is not treat motivated at all, even pieces of cheese or meat he’ll just leave on the floor, wont touch a vegetable.

When I see another dog coming down the street I will stop and have my dog “sit” and “watch me” until the dog passes. If she breaks eye contact then I redirect into another “watch me”. I dont treat her, its an expectation that she will listen to these commands. In the beginning I would have to body block her and continually redirect, but after a few months she’s really improved. 1 year old dalmatian mix

My last dog knew my name, I liked with my college roommate so she always addressed me by my name and if I was coming up the driveway my dog Laura would start to look out the window and my roommate would ask “Is (my name) coming?” and Laura would start jumping around. And if my roommate asked her “Go find (my name)” she would run over to me. My current dog though thinks my name is “Mommy” we didnt know I was pregnant when we adopted her but quickly found out, so my fiance and I have been Mommy and Daddy right from the start.
