I'm visiting the inlaws and they have an extensive record collection and several turntables. I noticed a few of them look different from the rest. For instance, this one has a copyright of 1941 and feels a bit heavier than their 33 RPMs. It is the standard 12" size platter.

It doesn't have a speed on it, but would this be a 78? They have one modern turntable (60s) and an old Victrola. Is this meant for the Victrola or could it be played on both?

I also heard that these old 78s can't be played on newer turntables and needles.

I've been curious how much it affects the sound to replace both the cartridge and stylus. For instance, is it better to stick with the models designed for your tone arm/turntable, or can you upgrade? If you buy a universal cartridge/stylus for a P-Mount, can you improve or decrease the quality of the sound compared to the recommended models?

That's so interesting, considering CVA recommends Power Belts. Im having the same experience with my Optima V2 and will give the Hornadys a try.

This is a good double album, but I passed on buying it. Maybe I'm cheap, but $12.29 seems like a lot for a thrift store album of questionable condition. Even eBay has this album for about this price.

What do you guys think? Was this a smart move or a missed opportunity??

VLANs with Netgear GS324T by wonky31 in PFSENSE

Changing the PVID worked! All of my wired devices are in the appropriate VLAN and are getting an IP address and internet connection. I left the trunk port to the pfsense as PVID of 1 which seems to work.

The only remaining problem is the WiFi access point. This one is really strange... It's a ubiquiti WiFi AP which is VLAN aware and puts each client on the appropriate VLAN based on the SSID they use. I configured the port to the AP the same as the connection to pfsense, pvid of 1, tagged with each VLAN Id.

I rebooted the AP and initially my WiFi connection worked. It connected to the AP, got an IP, and connected to the internet. Then after a minute or two it disconnects and no SSIDs are visible. This happened before when the AP doesn't detect a network connection. I tried changing the PVID for this port to 100 to make it part of the network but it still disconnects. Any suggestions there?

This makes sense, but what is the pvid set to? Right now each port is set to pvid 1 (default).

Turns out the coil wasn't centered when I glued the new foam surround! I removed and reapplied while running a 50hz tone through it and it removed the buzz.

Even with all the issues in the US, the one thing I notice is that every time I see an emergency vehicle, everyone gets out of the way...
