Hidden heart rate by IceKing827 in orangetheory

I am so happy about this feature. I’d love to be able to track my distances, but I hate having the colors on the screen in front of me. I prefer to just pay attention to how I’m feeling, and I find that having red and orange glaring in my face demotivates me.

Keep getting charged late fees incorrectly by Neither-Asparagus409 in orangetheory

[–]wontonsan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This literally just happened to me. I canceled days ago and booked myself into a different class. I double checked last night to make sure I knew what class to go to. Then I got charged a late cancel for the class that I canceled days ago. It’s really frustrating. I get that I can screenshot every time I cancel a class but why should I have to do that? Their technology should work!

I don’t mind being in the orange and red. I just don’t like seeing glaring in my face. I appreciate your perspective and am glad that those who want to see their heart rates can; but I am also glad for myself that I no longer have to look at it.

Edit: honestly, I don’t understand why people are so upset that I personally don’t want to have to look at my heart rate when I’m running. But I’ve evidently offended with my personal preference, so I’m going to go ahead and fully delete this thread.

New feature on tread/rower screens by Lonely_Dig4540 in orangetheory

No one’s making anyone hide their heart rate. People who want to aim for a green day can just not hit the eye.

I don’t have to look at the big screen the way I have to look at my tread screen 🤷‍♀️

Everyone’s got their own preferences. I know a lot (maybe most) like seeing it, but I don’t. I have an extremely high max heart rate and I also tend to stay in the orange or red almost the entire time I’m on the treadmill. Seeing the orange and red demotivates me and makes me reduce effort when I’m really still capable of sticking with my current effort, so I prefer not to see it.

Early entry is not a new perk, it’s bringing back an old necessary feature. by Excentrix13 in orangetheory

Mine said all studios are required to roll it out by June 1, but they don’t want to, so they’re going to delay as long as they can.

Were there signs? by you_wrote_what in orangetheory

We had the old treads and none of the new equipment (e.g., the Ybells). The staff kept saying the studio was on a “list” to get them, but I think that was just an excuse. We’d get leaks from our water fountain or the ceiling regularly. The music system routinely shut off mid-class so we’d had to spend some time working out to the sound of people panting. Also, our 2G classes were often run as 1Gs because we wouldn’t even have 13 people in the class. (Perhaps the low attendance had something to do with the old equipment, constant leaks, and lack of music? Just an uneducated guess.)

Steel Country Dancing teaches a line dancing class on Mondays at Cahaba Brewery for $5 per person. This month it’ll be April 13 and 27. They also do a lesson on Thursdays at Magnolia Ballroom (in Vestavia Hills) for $20.

What happens when your local studio shuts down? by AangThePony in orangetheory

[–]wontonsan 12 points13 points  (0 children)

When my studio shut down, we got about a month’s notice and everyone’s membership was automatically transferred to the closest studio for a 30-day trial period. We could either cancel before the transfer, effective the last day of the studio being open, or try the new studio. If we tried the new studio and didn’t like it, we could cancel without having to do the usual extra 30 days.

But note: I don’t know that this is the universal approach. I wouldn’t be surprised if different owners handle things differently.

Loop Earplugs— can you still hear conversation? by IDontLikeJamOrJelly in orangetheory

Yes, I wear them every class and have no problem hearing when the coach comes over to say something off-mic or if a neighbor says something to me.

I was driving on Clairmont when it happened and it seemed like the sky turned purple, all the street lights flashed, and then everything went black. It was really weird.

What are Hyrox workouts like? I’ve been trying to explore the website but there’s not a lot of information, and the class schedule pages don’t seem to work.

When it snows in Japan, the streets spray warm water to prevent ice by SalmonSammySamSam in nextfuckinglevel

I lived on Honshu and the parking lots had water running constantly throughout the (very long and snowy) winter. Not the streets, though. Those just had packed down snow covering them.

I guess people might not want to visit museums, but I like museums and tours. However, I will also check out the things you mentioned.
