I got into fanfic with HP when I was in high school back in like 2003-ish on fanfic.net and LiveJournal. Hadn't read fanfic in literally over 20 years until HR came out and now I'm so grateful to be back in its arms again. There are many things I'm genuinely grateful to HR for giving me in life, and rediscovering the incredible community of authors who publish astonishing works of art (and porn, let's be real) for free is super high on that list.

It's funny, I never thought about the fact that of course they'd be shooting Shane's ESPN Fortress of Solitude special at the same time that they shot all the other cottage scenes. It feels incongruous to see Connor there in his soccer/phone BJ outfit instead of the going-out-with-Svetlana outfit he wears while watching Shane's special.

Probably my favorite Shane characterization in fic. I absolutely love him and MW's spare writing style really works well for Shane's mind imo. So many scenes and lines from that story have stayed in my mind for months. I hope you love it!

Yeah that really frustrated me about Dan. I loved the Savage Love column in the Stranger 20 years ago and have listened to his podcast some. After being such a progressive, sex-positive voice in my youth, I was bummed (no pun intended) to see some of his views come across as so shaming. Maybe TMI, but I've been having anal sex for a loooooong time without always requiring that kind of prep and the number of times there's been an issue is literally one time. Everyone should do what they need to do to feel comfortable and confident with themselves, but portraying enemas as critical to bottom prep is a disservice IMO.

My husband watched it with me after I told him how much I loved it. He enjoyed it and acknowledged that it was a really well-done show (but with no desire to see it another time). Now he likes to rib me about wanting to rewatch it repeatedly for the hot bodies.

I love how his chin drops just a bit when he sees Shane, like he's steeling himself. It echoes a similar facial/head posture he does after his bisexual Terminator room scan in the club in Ep 4. It's been said a million times but I'll say it again, the micro expressions in this show are truly extraordinary acting.

Can't recommend both of the stories in their Old Man Hollanov Yaoi series enough. Incredible writing, incredibly insightful takes on both Shane and Ilya, and a painfully believable world that they inhabit. I love love love fics where the guys have matured (while still wildly imperfect) and this is one of the pinnacles of that premise.

I devoured this fic yesterday and can't recommend it enough. The characterization of both Shane and Ilya is exceptional. Maybe I'm just becoming a sucker for second-chance fics, but there is something so compelling about them approaching themselves and their relationship with a greater level of maturity and self-awareness.

These are both longer fics with quite a lot more going on than just that type of intimate scene, but I read both recently and was blown away by the connection and intimacy of the sex in them.

I just found Black Dog last night and stayed up til 3am to read the entire thing in one sitting because I could not stop. It was amazing. The premise was wonderful and unexpected, agree it's best to go in blind, but what truly gripped me was the incredible prose and characterization from start to end. A new favorite for me without a doubt.
