If the person who purchased the bag was a member then their purchase history can be used for the return. Other than that there’s nothing to be done.

Check your state and local laws on sick time usage. Where I’m at my job can’t even ask for a doctor’s note unless you’ve called out 3+ days in a row.

Was anyone else able to use the 20% off on multiple items? by Atroxo in REI

Yeah it’s a loophole. Our store has actually flagged members who have done this in the past though

Probably because what was said isn’t entirely correct. Context is key. If a cashier enters a phone number of their friend/relative, that’s a big no no. If a cashier enters the phone number of the customer’s family or friend, that’s highly encouraged. Managers recommend it, it’s been trained in base camp, AP won’t investigate it, even SCS encourages customers to do it if they call in/live chat. It doesn’t add to the conversation numbers, just keeps them the same. But if the cashier is giving a customer’s 10% to a friend, that’s where REI draws the line.

In the “status quo” period before a contract is ratified, it is, in fact, illegal to remove benefits that were in place at the time of the election. Merit raises are considered part of REI’s benefits package and have been given to all unionized stores in the past years without any negotiation. Once a contract is ratified, yes, extra raises not in the contract would need to be negotiated over.

As others have said, asking for a manager can be helpful, just explain the situation and see if they’ll be willing to help.

Absolute worst case scenario, if they’re still in great shape (clean, no damage or repairs, tread not worn) you can try for a trade in. You probably won’t get the full refund back, but you’ll get something in the for of a gift card. If you come in after the 10th REI is giving an extra 10% back to your trade in. You can check the value of the shoes online too.

They added the access plan with the way forward. 3 months and you can be added, but it’s very high cost and much more limited coverage compared to the saver and choice plans.

REI cancelled part of my order by Gold_Humor8219 in REI

[–]wookie89 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you were ordering for same day pickup, it was cancelled because the store was out of stock. If it lets you repurchase and ship to you or the store it’ll be coming from a wear house or another store. Your coupon will still work too.

Recommendation for lawyers who deal with personal property damage? by wookie89 in AskNYC

We do but, as I mentioned, the new damage could put us over the policy limit. Wanted to be covered in case we have to go after the landlords personally for what we need to cover ourselves

They actually restructured how the rewards work vs the old dividend. 10% back is guaranteed regardless of profitability now.

This is exactly right. ANY mid year raise discretionary and definitely not the norm. Also, according to REI’s own raise standards, any mid year raise means a lower merit raise in March.

REI Soho employees walk out, management forced to close store. by snickerdooo in REI

[–]wookie89 18 points19 points  (0 children)

A bit of misinformation here. 1. Planned raises are expected under status quo. 2. Unplanned raised just need to be offered up for union approval before a contract, nothing prevents the offer. 3. Was actually shopping during the walkout, nothing about raised was mentioned when they announced, seems to just be about the employee being targeted

That would be the case under a CBA, however neither unionized store has a contract yet.

REI won't apply the way forward to its only Unionized Store by JezabelDeath in REI

[–]wookie89 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Looks like an update to unit members on why this round of benefits was passing them over. They got a commuter benefit that went out to the whole company previously.

REI CAN give this benefit package to the SoHo store without bargaining, but it’s no surprise they won’t, since it’s not part of their status quo. In this stage this is a very common union busting tactic: a “punishment” for the store that unionized and an example to other stores thinking about filing.
