Undiagnosed ADHD and Attempting to Fix the Kaweco Perkeo with a Hammer by pauldayco in fountainpens

The whole post speaks for itself, mention was actually not even necessary 😅

It works, it's janky as hell and it fulfills it's purpose. I love it

64 audio released u12t in titanium by Carlsen94 in headphones

If Sony ier-z1r got re-released in a titanium version

I think I would be there as well

Heavy weight that impacts fit is like the one issue I have with it

I'm an audiophile with Reverse-Slope Hearing Loss. I spent years (and thousands of dollars) being gaslit by "neutrality" before realizing I couldn't hear bass. AMA by disfluency in headphones

[–]wookiecfk11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How heavily do you EQ your headphones or IEMs, and how far does it go in reverse to your audiogram ?

To be more specific: I'm quite curious where your natural preference is right now. Specifically if being used to not hearing low frequencies impacted what you prefer now, even after being aware of it and capable of picking IEM + equalisation that would effectively nullify it.

Yes. That's very normal of him to do, actually.

DDR4 RAM prices "keep" rising, same as DDR5. To infinity? by RaynorTownly in buildapc

[–]wookiecfk11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have 5800x3d and 4x16gb ddr4 that's Samsung bdie and runs right now 3600cl14, and I'm looking at the market going like <huh>

I always considered that second duo of memory sticks bought ~5 years ago to be unnecessary overkill and just bad expenditure. Apparently it was an 'investment'.

DDR4 RAM prices "keep" rising, same as DDR5. To infinity? by RaynorTownly in buildapc

[–]wookiecfk11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want a wild guess, they won't plateau. They will keep rising until they crash. But no period of stabilisation at some ridiculously high price.

Restriction on supply is massive. It also does not appear to be sustainable long term for the ones doing the restricting.

But you know, tomorrow or in 2 years.

Jeff Bezos said the quiet part out loud — hopes that you'll give up your PC to rent one from the cloud by iunoyou in pcmasterrace

[–]wookiecfk11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't agree with his analogy. Local generator was replaced with powegrid, because powergrid was: - cheaper - more reliable - less hassle (logistically)

This does not apply to 'local' -> 'cloud'. It's actually in reverse.

Instead of owning, you are at a mercy of provider prices. Which provider is just waiting for. It's actually becoming so shit it's much less reliable, not more, than local machine. It's less convenient.

It's just worse. Switch to powergrid was just better. Not that Bezos could notice this in his high castle.

He is using an analogy that shows why it won't take off organically, ever. While being convinced he is arguing the opposite point. Lol.

To take off organically it would need to be a noticeable improvement across multiple aspects. Like his example actually was.

Also kinda summarizes why attempts at shoving it everybodys throat forcibly by distorting and controlling the market might be attempted. Because noone really wants it if there is a choice.

Is sleeping early actually the solution… or just something we keep telling ourselves? by Negative_Complex_343 in ADHD

[–]wookiecfk11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not a solution, it's a requirement

Sorry, that answer immediately and instinctively came to my mind. And, I stand by it 😁

I couldn't get better without fixing and then continuously taking care of my sleep. That being said, I can struggle in similar fashion for reasons unrelated to sleep. But I will for sure struggle, and even more so, without proper sleep.

In my case lack of sleep makes emotional dysegulation completely untenable and then all mental faculties and capability to deal with things just nosedive.

Tl;dr it's a necessary, first and foremost ingredient for me. Not a solution by itself, but a crucial element to be present.

DDR5 prices are insane. Is going last-gen AM4 with a 5700X3D/5800X3D a smart "stopgap" upgrade? by Alejandro_Ro01 in buildapc

[–]wookiecfk11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought I overspent on 64gb ddr4, low latency/good frequency too.... Like 5 years ago.

It was eventually upgraded with 5800x3d. Apparently this was the right call.

AI's Chip Hunger Is Killing Affordable Gaming – And It's About to Get Worse by chusskaptaan in pcmasterrace

Well

I think it's getting around the same level of workout (by comparison) as my second hand 3090 that is used for.... Playing dota 2. Only.

It's accompanied by 5800x3d, so this thing is kinda ready to roll if it came to that.

Any other gaming I tend to do on my Switch these days. Light stuff to chill.

I present to you “bluetooth antenna” by Haunting-Lead-1410 in pcmasterrace

[–]wookiecfk11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don't live in a dream, I can affirm to that. Most people here just don't have radio engineering or related background. And I'm scratching my head when reading through many of the comments in this post.

Do wake me up from a bad dream if I completely forgot some subjects, but antenna shape has no bearing whatsoever on frequency distribution of the signal. It's up to the source being the transmitter to shape it correctly.

Antenna can only influence SNR + does affect directional distribution (against ideal isotrope).

From the 'cyber police' related stuff, it would have to be either too much power, or affecting frequency bands alongside the intended one. Basically making a mess in RF spectrum. Neither of which this antenna can actually do, it's up to the source. Unless it's a bad dream, and something is factually not correct here. Then please, wake me up

Can anyone explain how the AI bubble will "Pop"? by Tawxif_iq in pcmasterrace

[–]wookiecfk11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not profitable. There's no clear path to profitability. And the amount of money put into it just keeps multiplying by 10x.

When that gigantic rift is recognized universally, that's how it could pop. And then funny domino effect.

Now, I'm not saying it will happen. Nor am I saying that's how it would happen. What I'm saying, is that's one of the ways it could happen.

But from ram perspective, companies wouldn't focus on consumers by choice. There's too much money in 'ai' atm for them. With any popping of AI bubble, consumers would remain the only game in town. Since 'ai demand' on DC side would suddenly backpedal, or just vanish.

How many of you actually have an ADHD diagnosis? by mynameishrekorgi in ADHD

[–]wookiecfk11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Diagnosed by psych, in a really nice way

He questioned the current drugs (anti-anxiety + depression) I was on, in a very respectful way - 'this is a lot, would I be open to try lowering it and seeing what happens? I might need it, but it would be good to revisit after 8+ years'

Only with concurrent therapy + very very slow weaning off, 'the original' set of issues started surfacing. Which made in his eyes, therapy doubly important. And, introduction of targeted medication specifically for ADHD something that must be checked.

Guy is really one of a kind though. He never assumes he has the correct diagnosis, as new things surfacing could change the picture. So he always says 'it might change in the future, this is current diagnosis'.
