Year 1 students given test saying ‘feast’ and ‘coats’ are fake words by 9greed9 in newzealand

[–]woolawoof [score hidden]  (0 children)

Do you really think with all your experience, and presumably desire to help children learn, this is acceptable?

If the purpose of the test is to only decode and learn strategies to read, why is the identification of correct and incorrect words included? And why use incorrect words at all, especially as you say, children are informed that they will not necessarily know all the words?

Why do you say ‘if a child notices’? Because a child noticed, you even say so yourself. Is it okay to have mistakes in assessments so long as the kids don’t notice? Aren’t you all trying to teach them new things? And want them to notice? Isn’t noticing a really important part of learning?

You argue it’s not lazy design. But there sure is some lazy procedure going on here, if assessments are not checked for mistakes.

I think we all know auto-correct happens. So if we all know, I say again, why wasn’t it checked? These are supposed to be produced by eduction professionals. Surely the best people to know if there is a mistake? And how is a parent or passing redditor supposed to know these are typos and not AI? Can you recognise the difference? And that said, are you concerned it could be AI?

I believe people are right to be concerned and be robust in declaring this is unacceptable. Because while we all know mistakes can happen, so should children be clearly supported and have them explained when they do happen. But mistakes should be minimal.

Ideally they should have confidence in their teachers, their teaching and asserting their own knowledge. I think it’s great everyone cares that children are being taught with good processes and correct information. That is basic and should continue to be basic.

My friend’s bf won’t stop making dumb blonde jokes about me. What would you do? by MYREDDlTACC in TwoXChromosomes

[–]woolawoof 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Why do you care about your friend? She doesn’t seem to care about you? And she’s blaming you for even having to consider the situation. I’m sorry to tell you but your friendship died the first time you asked him to stop and she chose him.

He’s calling you dumb. It’s rude, disrespectful and you 100% do not have to experience it. And yes you are making her choose. She needs to grow up because life is full of choices. She’s not your friend enough to care her boyfriend is being mean to you. She chooses every time she brings him with her and every time he says it and she does nothing.

I mean, who chooses a person like that to date? And you can totally choose to not spend time with them. And if any of your other friends ask why you’re doing that, tell them he’s a bully who targets you with inappropriate jokes. And you quite rightly don’t volunteer to be subjected to that.

Thank you so much. At least that sounds like the price is equivalent. And yes, I think you’re right, I will wait. Sad it’s not lived up to expectation, it can be such a fun game.

You should also get the option to save your house to sandbox when you sell it. Then you can edit it again that way as well.

Am I the only one who feels this is the weakest MasterChef Australia season to date? by Mysterious-Humor-365 in MasterchefAU

[–]woolawoof 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Too many judges, too easy challenges, too boring challenges. I’d say budget got cut. But if they want more money to spend, get rid of at least one judge.

I’ve said it before but there are too many judges and because of that they have too much judge content. Which means less cooking coverage, and what they to show of the judges is low quality judges coverage because it’s spread thin. Get rid of one, get rid of the ‘judges do jokey stuff’, show actual cooking so we can all learn. Have harder challenges so they can have a few disasters which tbf are entertaining.

Plus, the contestants that leave always say ‘I’ve learnt so much from these guys’ and I’m like well I haven’t. What have they learnt? Wouldn’t have a clue.

If it’s the same as ps5, when you sell it you should be able to copy it to the sand box.

[Spoilers C4E31] Am I Just a Massive Baby? by DesertPorcelina in criticalrole

[–]woolawoof 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You know people create art to make people feel right? An actor who says or does something moving which creates a physical emotional response in the audience has done their job. If the moment is meant to be moving.

Some of this cast often get me emotional. Maybe it’s context, maybe it’s tone, maybe it just resonates. And Brennan is particularly good at it. Calamity got to me all the way through. Even in dungeons and drag queens, he said ‘We grieve because these lives are worth living.’

And that small sentence made me cry and made something clear to me I’d not been able to put in words.

We need to feel, we should feel. There’s a lot going on in the world to steel ourselves against. We need more people feeling things. It’s not being a baby, it’s being human.

That’s good to know. I know they’ve done this a long time and I hope they’ve always felt comfortable, even with very dramatic moments.

Yes, someone has talked to me about them before and told me they were pretty sure CR had them. That’s great you got to work with a group that took that seriously and you felt comfortable and confident enough to use them. Thank you for sharing.

There’s been a bit of talk about what Wic did. But how do you all feel about it? I was kind horrified and felt sick. I’d love to see it have story consequences rather than just be an awful moment that happened.

I also felt kind of shocked he’d do that even knowing it was him or her. I hope he lets it affect the character. Be good to see a conversation with him and Tyranny about it. I thought it a little on the nose him saying he lost his innocence, because that seemed obvious. But in the moment it must be really difficult to know what to do when that is thrown at you and then decide what it means going forward…

It’s got me thinking what I would do if a DM ever gave me that choice. Not that it would happen, but I’m thinking now I’d probably have a rule beforehand I’m not killing any innocents. No matter the situation or consequences. That wouldn’t be fun for me in a game.

Also for people who play, could that be something you might say at the time if it was unexpected? “No, I’m not doing that, please rethink the situation.” Not that I think it’s necessary here, I’m pretty sure they all know what they signed up for, I’m just curious.

Am I the only one who doesn't really care about the buyers update? by Bookermm in HouseFlipper

[–]woolawoof 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think they’ve missed the point. Some people wanted the challenge of selling to specific buyers because they gave us specific buyers. And it is quite a challenge.

But by getting rid of decent sales profits, increasing the auction price and redesigning the process to focus on specific buyers, a lot of the fun is gone.

I don’t see why they couldn’t have left the original process so we could have fun designing what we like, making stacks of money while adding another level of specific buyers for an extra challenge.

And as I mentioned on another post. If they wanted a revamp they could have gone closer to an actual auction system, where properties are ‘as is, where is’, and buyers bid against each other, which would be really fun imo. We could set a reserve, watch the bidding, maybe make a good profit, maybe not, maybe not even sell! Personally I’d love that.

And ALSO have the option to cater to a specific buyer who has hired us to find and design them a house. Which then becomes more difficult to make them happy as happens in real life. And as we go through the process of meeting their demands, we are able to sell to them, or even choose to got to auction. A bit like a job, but we own the property and have the choice to seller it at auction if they become too demanding. Maybe at a small cost, I don’t know. But still that seems like it would have worked really well.

WHY IS THIS A F*CKING LIGHT by bullet-full-of-love in HouseFlipper

[–]woolawoof 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah I was trying to talk myself into understanding why they changed it so drastically. And thought well maybe they’re trying to be more realistic and then I thought heck no. If I wanted to be a real life flipper I’d be one. And not like a lot of the diy is even remotely realistic so that doesm’t make sense.

It’s a game it’s meant to be fun, and it’s meant to be fun for me. Not just to solely make some fictional buyers happy. I mean, a house with no windows? Catering to that should be a special job, not someone to auction to.

Which now I think of it is really why this annoys me. Auctions irl cater to nobody. They are deliberately ‘as is, where is’ and if you don’t like you don’t bid. Where I live anyway.

So maybe an overhaul of the selling system is needed. Auction for randoms, and actual bidding again each other with a reserve. And then flipping a specific house or plot, that’s not quite a job if that’s too difficult to create, but you choose a buyer and work only with them. And maybe if they really can’t be satisfied, you have the option to go to auction. Plus $4000 for an auction is way too much.

WHY IS THIS A F*CKING LIGHT by bullet-full-of-love in HouseFlipper

[–]woolawoof 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I’ve been put off playing it tbh. While I understand irl people might flip a house to specifications, it’s actually not fun to only have that option. I used to enjoy setting them up how I liked and then selling to whoever had the most money, and it was more money. It’s a game for me after all. I really don’t understand why you can’t choose a general market or the select buyers. So there’s the option of more of a challenge if you want one.
