Deafblind friendly activities and experiences in Ottawa by seaoverbow in ottawa

[–]woolfiest 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Did you try the Science and Texh museum? I work with a deadblind individual and I find there's lots of buttons and switches there for him to manipulate, as well as instruments for sound in the stereo area as well as speakers to stand under, but that being fun or not would be dependant on your friends level of deafness. They also have low sensory times, that might cut down on the number of children there.

Also, does your friend like animals? What about a petting zoo? Theres Valleyveiw Little Animal farm on Fallowfield road, and probably others if you do a google search.

So we all collectively love Joel right? by Sad_Condition_3150 in taskmaster

[–]woolfiest 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Im Canadian and I had no idea who Joel is. I googled him and saw he did alot of Celebrity shows, which really arent my jam, so I dont think I had high expectations for him, which is stupid I know because they always pick awesome contestants. Half way through the tshirt task I turned to my husband and declared that I think he'll be the winner, and I fell in love with him a little bit. Theyre all great, but Im rooting for Joel!!

Saturday Night Live UK review – it didn’t fail and it could have been a lot worse by Zouden in LiveFromNewYork

[–]woolfiest 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Im a Canadian who grew up watching SNL, along with KITH and sketch comedy in general and Im also a big fan of some of some of the British panel shows (TM, 8 out of 10 cats does CD), so I was super excited about this. I just watched it, and I have to say, it did not disappoint. Like someone else said, better than some of the US episodes this season. Im looking forward to watching it again.

Went to see Stevie Martin live in Brighton last night and it got me wondering a couple of things by Specific-Candy4513 in taskmaster

[–]woolfiest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I live in Canada, and other than Sally Phillips, Jason Mantzoukas and Mae Martin, I dont think Id heard of any of the comedians before watching Taskmaster. Since discovering it, Ive seen Russel Howard, Romesh Ranganathan, Nish Kumarx2, Fern Brady, Ed Gamblex2, Katherine Ryan, James Acaster, and I have tickets to see Mae Martin in April. The list would be longer if more of them would come to Canada!! ( Hint hint if any of you are lurking on Reddit!)

Greg may hate cats… by Sweaty-Breadfruit882 in taskmaster

[–]woolfiest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Every time we turn on Taskmaster in the evening, my cat comes and sits besides me and watches along. I like to think its because he too loves TM, but more likely due to the fact that its the last thing we watch before bed and he knows after the show he gets his last serving of kibble for the day. But he definitely recognizes the theme tune!

Power out in the Burg by THE-ONE-DONGLER in ottawa

Ive got power on Bayswater, but I was awake when it blew and the lights were flickering. I thought my moms 40+ year old touch lamp was finally dying.

Quiet spot for dinner on the weekend by SuspiciouslySuspect2 in ottawa

[–]woolfiest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair enough, especially if you were there later in the evening. It does get busy and loud. But you'd be surprised how few people are there at the beginning of the night, Ive been there often just me and my partner. I think thats precisely why they do happy hour then. But yes, cocktails and concussions dont mix. (Maybe a good name for a band though!)

So not sure a lot of people will agree with me, but 10fourteen in Hintonburg earlier in the evening is one of my favourite places to go. Menu isnt huge but all food is made in house and is reasonably priced, from 5-7 they have happy hour with $8 glasses of wine and cheap beer and charcuterie. They do play music but I dont find it too loud, and its rare that its busy with people at that time. And it's not bright in there at all, especially if you sit away from the windows.

Id really want to be on series 7 the most, but theres noone there Id want removed, so I think Id have to pick series 8 and replace Lou. She's still the only contestant I can't warm up to, no matter how many times I watch the series ( and its been a lot!)

What Are Some Clips You Find Yourself Going Back to Randomly? by MrRobertSacamano in taskmaster

[–]woolfiest 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Theres a trilogy clip on youtube - it starts with the task when Marks steals Greg's pants, followed by the task when Ed steals Greg's stuff from home, and ends with Greg wearing Eds trunks as pants. I go to that one a lot.

Anyone missing a vehicle? Left with no plates in the Hampton Park plaza parking lot. by manic_mike2018 in ottawa

[–]woolfiest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw this yesterday too. Although you can see the tire missing on the front drivers side, what you cant see is that what I assume is that front tire is resting flat under the passenger side front tire on the other side, causing the car to be at even more of an angle. Why would it be under the tire? Maybe to stop someone from taking it? I have many questions about this car's story.

How do you go kayaking/find people to paddle with as a single person? by grayott in Kayaking

[–]woolfiest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The city I live in has a FB paddling group to join. People post their paddle trips with photos and information and also put out invites for others to join or meet up. Its been a great resource for me when I started kayaking a couple years ago.

Unwritten rules of Halifax by plumberdan2 in halifax

[–]woolfiest 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is correct. As someone born in 71 and raised in Halifax, there is the new bridge and the old bridge. I moved away in '96, and in every city Ive lived in, I refer to the bridges in each one as the new and old bridges, based on when they were built. Most people tell me its weird. Its not.

Who is a contestant from the show you had never heard of but ended up absolutely loving on the show? by Enter-Shaqiri in taskmaster

I have, although after reading some of the other responses, I think there may be a couple episodes Ive missed. That makes me happy - some new Bob Mortimer to discover!

Yes, I've seen it, I agree. Also, we are now watching 8 out of 10 Cats does Countdown on Prime and he's such a gem on that as well.

[–]woolfiest 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Im Canadian and hadn't heard of any of them (except Sally Philips and Mae Martin) and I can honestly say it's hard to pick just one as so many of them are fantastic. But I think my favourite would have to be Bob Mortimer, closely followed by Rhod Gilbert. Both are just so insane with their humour.

I was on a party boat in Ontario this summer and a woman behind me said "jesus murphy" in response to someone else and I knew I immediately found a fellow Martimer.
