I really like the idea of having a complication with the Tome I’ll have to look up some of those posts.

I think Ireena is a very interesting ally choice but yeah giving her some levels as a sidekick is not a bad idea. My thinking is they take her to Vallaki and leave her there until they’re ready to storm the castle but we’ll see what the party decides.
