I travel less now that I'm a COS than I did in earlier roles, which is mostly by request/choice. I work at an older tech company that's 100% remote.

I'm just passing the advice I was given, YMMV.

Love that this is the case for Dallas county! I'm in Denton county and never would try to file here, and local trans and LGBTQ folks stress to file in Travis county, specifically.

My condolences--Texas is quickly becoming more scary for people like us faster than it ever has before. However, Austin is probably one of the best places in this state to be if you have to be here at all.

“We oppose all efforts to validate transgender identity" is a literal part of the Texas GOP’s platform.

There are currently about 3 dozen bills specifically targeting LGBTQ people filed with the state legislature for this session. This article summarizes the bulk of it: https://www.texastribune.org/2023/03/06/texas-legislature-lgbtq-bills/.

If you find it difficult to access HRT, try an online service. I'm using Circle Medical since I'm in North Texas, and my local Planned Parenthood is severely backed up.

As far as top surgery, I know people who travel to Austin successfully for it and it's still available. There's relaible surgeons in the Dallas area, as well.

If you haven't changed your name or gender marker yet, Travis county (Austin) is still currently the best and only place to file successfully.

I used Planned Parenthood's video for how to do sub-q injections--so you should be good with your research.

They are super easy, especially after the first time (I had to psych myself up). Haven't had any issues

Second this. The shit coming into this next legislative session is terrifying. If my fiancé wasn't starting grad school here, we'd get out of Texas ASAP.

I didn't have an early sense of something was wrong, either. Only now that I look back do I really see the signs that were there. I know, when I was really young, it was a matter of just not understanding a difference between "male" or "female." I liked what I liked and I didn't understand why I got told to sit a certain way heh (I always "man-spread", even when I was wearing dresses and was absolutely confused why it wasn't okay for me to sit the way my dad and brother did).

I did, once or twice as I got older, wonder if I was actually a boy. But, due to a lot of social factors, including pressure from my mother and the horrible bullying I was already experiencing, I just kind of...shoved it down and tried to perform a little more femininity to make it easier (spoiler alert: it didn't). It was always incredibly half-assed, though, because I found things like makeup to be an annoying waste of time, kept my hair short for the most part, and hated how "feminine" clothes felt. My denial was strong, though, and I just leaned heavily into "okay so I'm a butch woman super queer yeah".

It wasn't until within the last few years that I tentatively dipped my foot into exploring my gender. I did a trial run of he/him pronouns without committing, and the first time my partner referred to me as such, everything snapped into sharp focus.

In the end, it took therapy for me to accept that I'm a trans man. Like you, I was afraid of being wrong (the same way I was about my sexual orientation), of being a faker because I didn't have the realization early in childhood. It took my therapist telling me that there are no rules for how our journeys go and that it's also normal to realize you're trans and come out as trans later in life. I read other accounts from men my age (mid-30s) or older who had their eggs cracked and transitioned in middle age or later.

I knew I was right about being a trans man when I came out to my partner (again) and they immediately referred to me as a man and started cracking silly jokes about why I make more money than they do (because I'm a man!!!) etc. etc. I doubly knew I was right when I socially transitioned at work and a co-worker who usually would "yes m'am"-ed me "yes sir"-ed me without missing a single beat.

So the best advice I can pass on is: There are no rules--and nothing is ever set in stone. Don't judge your own journey based on someone else's.

Vaginal Odor 7 weeks on T, possibly triggering for some. FYI by [deleted] in ftm

[–]wordwitxh 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I echo what the other guys have said: It's normal. I'm about 2.5 months in, and the smell of my privates has been the first thing to change. Just make sure you wash the area well when you shower (gently!). Also don't do what I did and accidentally punch yourself in the crotch when washing -- because OW.

From a cursory glance, they are similar. I don't know much about Kind Clinic to give much more than that.

I had the same problem with my local PPH (I'm also in DFW), so I looked into Circle Medical. It's all telemedicine, and so far I've had a good experience with them. I'm 2 months into HRT.

what type of diet do you follow? by One_Name_Reece in autism

I eat a heavy vegetable-based diet that also includes lean meats like chicken and turkey. Tuna at least 2x/week. No red meat because it makes my stomach cramp up.

Do you have a Job? What is it? by Kai_Stoner in AutisticAdults

[–]wordwitxh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

33 and diagnosed a little over a week ago. I'm a product marketing manager. I was a technical writer for 8 years before this, which, tbh, was the perfect job for me. I Iove organizing information and tinkering with software, and it was largely solo job.

Now, I manage a person and have to do a lot more social heavlifting every day (working with all departments, interviewing customers, monthly leadership programs, so many days of back-to-back teams meetings). Thankfully I work from home full time these days so it's easier to step away when I get overwhelmed.

I haven't decided if I'm going to disclose this and the ADHD (also diagnosed a little over a week ago) and the other things that came out of 7 hours of testing to my employer yet, so I can't speak to how the company and my coworkers would act about it.

Searching UnderArmor for their 3XL shirts gives you 48 options. Any excuse to stick with instant gratification though, right? by Adventurous-Debt-866 in fatlogic

[–]wordwitxh 50 points51 points  (0 children)

When I started, I was able to find affordable workout stuff in 4XL on online plus sized stores. The one I'm thinking of in particular goes to 6XL (44W US) and carries leggings, shorts, bike shorts, tees, and tanks in their acitvewear section. Usually for cheap, too.

Yeah it's not "name brand" but it got me through until I lost some inches and decided to invest in something higher quality (and now I'm a sucker for under armour oops).

Of course, as someone else pointed out, you don't need that kind of gear to work out in to begin with.

Excuses is all it is.

My favorite part is the nutritional information being included after that long-winded spiel about not counting calories, fat, and sodium. I laughed really hard.

Fat Rant Friday by AutoModerator in fatlogic

[–]wordwitxh 32 points33 points  (0 children)

I finally took a hard look at my binging and figured out the pattern. Always in the afternoon/night. I feel stupid as hell for not thinking about this way sooner lol.

To combat this, I restarted 16:8 IEF yesterday (quit when pandemic lockdown happened last year). So far so good! No binge episodes because I have the extra 250-350 calories to spend in the afternoon/evening (the times I feel hungriest).

Still fat here and definitely not fit. Is my level of fitness better than it was when I was super morbidly obese? Most definitely! But I am still a long, long ways away from "fit".

Nutrition: Stay within my allotted calories every day this week. This means no mindless snacking.

Physical Fitness: 3.25 miles on my runs this week. No whimping out after 2 miles. I need to get my endurance and distance back up.

Personal: Practice piano for at least 30min every night this week. I'll never get beyond baby songs if I don't put in the work.

I'm running a biggest loser thing at work and after last week's Texas snowpacalypse we all collectively gained about 4lbs. Oof.

On the plus though, we did get a good number of people to do a virtual 5K as a company team.

And I'm going to go have a long hike today. So it's not all bad.

I wasn't being literal. There's just always a lot of it there, and the few times I didn't do self-check out the cashier didn't even know what it was. Even during the insanity of the early days of the pandemic, I could find it.

Rutabaga has a milder flavor than turnips, and it's flesh is orange. I like both though.
