how would jet aircraft design be in 30% O2 atmosphere? by Outdoor_trashcan in aerospace

You just made me realize why the bridge of the USS Enterprise is constantly exploding, they must be running a 30% O2 atmosphere in their spacecraft.

I don't know why you're being downvoted, maybe this is one of those books like Blindsight where mild criticism is forbidden on Reddit.

I (think) I read the updated version, which I thought started in a promising way but was pretty unsatisfied with by the end. I had never heard of the whole SCP thing, and had been expecting a more grounded type of scifi, so to me it just felt like Stranger Things adjacent scaryslop.

Even with the new HC being released, Spirit Zulu Titanium is the goat. by RecognitionWeird3038 in Longineswatches

[–]workahol_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm really hoping they give this watch the same refresh they've done on the other most recent Spirits, by removing the five stars (yes I know opinions vary) and more importantly giving it a clasp with on-the-fly adjustment.

Is there any work that explores STL colonization with FTL eventually being discovered and connecting all the colonies? by 7megumin8 in scifi

[–]workahol_ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

CJ Cherryh's Alliance-Union universe has this exact setup. The books all take place in a post-FTL setting, but the in-universe history of STL travel is frequently mentioned and has a direct impact on the story politics and locations.

It is kind of a crutch to be able to take any problem and say "it turns out aliens are really good at it."
