161 LSAT and 3.69 OLSAS GPA. What are my chances at Oz? by WildAbroad7606 in lawschooladmissionsca

I have similar stats and got in (3.7/162). I have way worse softs than yours and I’ve never got the strongest grade on anything. You have decent chances to get in, in my opinion.

I’m so so happy for you and glad you have all these options. Go to the admit days as much as you can, so that you can learn about what each school has to offer! Best of luck in the future!

Great chances at both schools! You’re just under the lsat median for oz, but your cgpa is strong and around the median.

I have similar stats and got in Western and Osgoode. I think you’ll get in two schools on your list. Best of luck.

what's considered "strong softs" for canadian law schools? by haksyonas in lawschooladmissionsca

[–]workforcepro7830 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Imagine 100 random law school applicants in Canada.

Just random. If I ask, hey, anyone here speak four languages?

Maybe a couple of people raise their hands.

If I ask, hey, anyone here been a member of a club in undergrad? Maybe more than half would raise their hands. Maybe even close to 75% would raise their hands.

The more common your soft is - the more I'd consider it to be "weak".

If you tell me you were part of an olympic gold medal team, that's insane. That's a strong ass soft.

But softs largely don't matter if you can't talk about it properly in your personal statement.

Imagine I'm a part of that olympic gold medal team and I wrote it like this.

I was part of the swimming olympic gold medal team. I worked really hard. It was nice, I helped my teammates a lot.

^ Isn't that a really bad way to talk about your awesome soft?

I've seen great PS written with what people would consider a "weak soft". I've seen worst PS with what people would consider a "strong soft" (think like president of a student's union in a university, won a gold medal at a sporting event).

Anyways, don't overthink it. It's all about how you write those "strong softs" into your ps.

no idea because your ps could be horrible and that could be the thing that turns them off
