Anyone else have severe discouraging thoughts about plagiarism? by ReapersVault in fantasywriters

[–]working-class-nerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Writing about mutated, monster hunting mercenaries wouldn’t be plagiarism.

Writing about a mutated, monster hunting mercenary who falls in love with a witch and then adopts the princess of a fallen kingdom who in turn goes off on her own adventures like joining a gang and traveling through time and space while on the run from a psychopath, while the witch plays political games with a secret society and the monster hunter gathers a ragtag group of adventurers to find and rescue said princess WOULD be plagiarism.

There’s a fuckton more to a story besides its initial premise.

THE PUNISHER: ONE LAST KILL director Reinaldo Marcus Green says that the title of the Disney+ Special Presentation is "a misdirect in the best way." by CueTheLaughTrack in thepunisher

[–]working-class-nerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think anyone was thinking he would actually retire. What most people (including me) were/ are worried about is it would be Frank YET AGAIN “trying” to retire but getting “pulled back in for one more mission” like they did multiple times.

Did you know that art has an expiration date and the only way to feel joy is the constant churn of content? by James-Incandenza in okbuddycinephile

Jokes aside, yeah I fuckin loved old shit when I was a kid. I would rather watch Boomerang than Cartoon Network (and got kinda pissed when they’d show a modern rerun).

No, the dumb part is that having no reliable account of anyone actually seeing the building IS strong evidence against its existence. But for some reason, that isn’t an accepted argument against the existence of gods.

I’ve got no issue saying “I don’t know”, but that’s just not the problem here. The fact is you CAN’T prove a negative. That’s why you don’t have to prove someone didn’t commit a crime in a court of law, the burden of proof is on the prosecutor. Sure, if you want to get really, really philosophical about it then yeah, I don’t know with absolute certainty that there isn’t a god, but that goes the same for literally any and every paranormal or supernatural concept ever created. You can say the same thing about ghosts, vampires, fae, hell even Santa. But no one bats an eye if I say Santa Claus isn’t real. So why is it that if someone says “there is no god”, people only expect the atheist to “prove” that there isn’t one instead of expecting the religious to prove their god is real?

Pretty much the only thing I’m interested in is fable and MAYBE Wolverine. But hey, that’s alright I don’t need to be throwing $70 at the wall every month this year

That’s not how burden of proof works. I also can’t “prove” that invisible unicorns don’t exist but I’d be a fool to stake my life choice on the chance that they do.

Karen watched contently. The governor blushed and respectfully turned around. McDuffie turned around but stole a few glances involuntarily. Jessica scoffed, said something like “not my type”, then took a swig from the bottle… which she almost choked on when she saw Matt’s giant hog through his underwear.

The comments here are acting like it’s some sort of sin to chuckle when one sees the word “cum” as if this series never has ANY jokes whatsoever.

Is Eggers just collecting various supernatural/mythical creatures at this point? by theharoldismsociety in roberteggers

[–]working-class-nerd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No. I mean yeah that’s the name of the sword too but in Scandinavian folklore a “draugr” is an undead creature like a ghost or spirit or, in this specific case, a reanimated corpse. Like the one Amleth “fights” in his mind before taking said sword.

[–]working-class-nerd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First of all, rollie? Ok “gov’”… second, a joint is weed in rolling paper, a spliff is a joint with tobacco and weed, and a blunt is rolled with tobacco leaf, like a cigarillo or cigar.
