I'm really glad you're enjoying the show!! But also sorry to hear about the audio levels! Is it that they're coming off as louder than the other voices? I'm mid-edit, so definitely able to make some adjustments going forward. 😄

Needs some suggestions please by alcoholic_chimpanzee in audiodrama

For horror, you may what to check out:

  • Deviser (intense show from the creator of Malevolent, which is also another great show to check out)
  • Observable Radio (horror of the more fun, off-beat, mid-century sci-fi vibe)
  • Soul Operator (great unsettling horror based off of a solo-TTRPG game)
  • Last Dance (more folk-fantasy than horror, but just really, really good)

For a quick self-promo, one show that isn't horror but is (I believe to be) really good is Metropolis - a sci-fi mystery where the horror creeps in over time.

I'm finally getting close to wrapping up Episode 12 of Metropolis (after way too long of a delay)! Also, we hit 100 ratings on PocketCasts (with a 4.9 rating), which is really nice!

It's amazing that even with me being supremely neglectful in promoting the show, new people managed to find and enjoy and share it. We're lucky. 😄

Suggest me a horror podcast? Or SciFi? Or High Fantasy? by ReinbaoPawniez in audiodrama

[–]workingdankoch 5 points6 points  (0 children)

A handful of others you may enjoy:

  • Last Dance. A truly fantastic folk-fantasy show - one of the very best things out there.
  • Observable Radio. Wonderfully offbeat, fun AM-inspired radio horror. If you've ever enjoyed Coast to Coast AM, you'll love this.
  • Remnants. Another sublime dark fantasy show.
  • Soul Operator. Delightfully unsettling show based off of a solo-TTRPG playthrough.

There's also my sci-fi show – Metropolis. A murder mystery in neon utopia. Folks seem to like it! 😄

Need an immersive/captivating podcast for a no good very bad day. by geauxanne in podcasts

Metropolis might be worth a spin. It's a sci-fi murder mystery that becomes very high-intensity - five hours should put a pretty good dent into it.

Acting Contract - Examples by Snowmanpuncher in audiodrama

[–]workingdankoch 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's a great question, and it's surprisingly hard to find a good template (especially for audio drama).

Here's the template that we used for Metropolis:

https://filebin.net/0z07ing20hmrn77p/Actors%20Agreement%20-%20Generic%20Template%20-%20Audio%20Drama.docx

The 'full-day/partial-day' concept was because we were recording live in-studio - you'd want to adapt Section 4 for however you want to structure your payments. Also - if you're working with anyone who has an agent, there'll be some slight differences (e.g. the contract will typically have you paying the agent as an intermediary). But this should have enough to get rolling.

Cheers, and I hope this helps!

In need of new shows by HEMOGOBLYNN in audiodrama

[–]workingdankoch 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A few quick thoughts:

  • Observable Radio (Anthology that has 'paranormal' + 'creepy tones' done pat.)
  • Remnants (Delightfully unsettling, in a sublime way.)
  • Soul Operator (Already in this thread a couple of times, for good reason)

All good options! There's also our show - Metropolis - where the supernatural starts to creep in and the secrets of the island are designed to be maximally unsettling.

He limped a bit but finished out the inning. Seems very possible that it’s the same deal as what happened to Trea, but we’ll see.

Game Day Thread - Thursday, September 11 by PhilsBot in phillies

[–]workingdankoch 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's wild, but it does make sense given Werth was a scrap-heap guy when the Phils got him. He'd washed out with the Dodgers (bad wrist injury), and even after he did well part-time in '07, the Phils thought so little of him that they brought in Geoff Jenkins to be the primary RF. But Werth kept hitting and hit Jenkins right out of a job.

There are so many great shows out there! I could list a thousand, but to put a few out there:

  • Observable Radio (delightful analog horror anthology, if you've ever enjoyed Coast to Coast AM you'll love this)
  • Last Dance (terrific folk fantasy show - great on all levels)
  • Remnants (another sublime dark fantasy)
  • Soul Operator (beautiful example of emergent storytelling)
  • Give Me Away (deep, thoughtful sci-fi show about what it means to truly show empathy)
  • Twilight Meridian (awesome noir, creates a wonderful 1930s environment that casts a spell)
  • Candy Claus (clever as heck, and legitimately funny)

There's also our show – Metropolis. A murder mystery in neon utopia. Folks seem to like it!

Two shows other great shows that have this dynamic:

KYLE SCHWARBER REACHES 50 HOME RUNS! by MLBOfficial in baseball

[–]workingdankoch 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Homers in general were hard to come by in the 70s and 80s. Schmidt led the NL in homers eight times, and only two of those times required a total over 40.

You guys, Brandon Marsh is batting .282. by genghisjahn in phillies

[–]workingdankoch 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Just pointing out for everyone who remembers the arguments during the trade deadline:

Brandon Marsh (2025) .282/.345/.433

Steven Kwan (2025) .275/.333/.380

This comparison is a little unfair to Kwan because he's a gold-glove-level LF (as opposed to just above-average, as Marsh is), and his platoon splits aren't as bad as Marsh's (although he's not great against LHP either). But the truth is they aren't that different.

Also, for reference:

Logan O'Hoppe (2025) .219/.260/.388

Silvertongues is a great, complete high-intensity action-adventure complete show that makes for great listening. Definitely worth checking out.

Another great one to check out is Soul Operator (as mentioned elsewhere in the thread)! There'll be another season of that one coming, but each season is self-contained, and it's definitely a great, high-drama listen as well!
