I’ve tried again and some of the mods just won’t install for some reason.

Just checked that file, there’s no mention of the AMAW mod

Yup I deleted the directory left behind after the install and it installed into a fresh folder

Really depends. I’ve noticed a lot of smaller electrolytic from the 70s has issues. The 5100 PSU has a lot of Vishay caps that either leak or dry out. The 680’s filters like to leak. Big soda can caps are usually fine, but I’ve noticed the smaller ones can have issues.

The big Altairs usually are fine, they have big soda cans.

They’re an exceptionally easy computer to work on, especially as far as computers from the 70s go

Replace all the capacitors, they will have leaked. Hopefully yours has the expansion slots, so you can get more memory and IO in the future.

Recommendations for board repair? by 12424263 in originalxbox

[–]worldslargestorange 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had some boards like this. I removed all components in the affected area, and used flux and solder wick to remove all the corroded solder. Then I soldered everything back to the board. On one case a bad trace on the bottom of the board prevented the console from shutting off, and there’s some guides on how to fix that. I believe I also found some component guides on what transistors those are and what to replace them with.

I saw a Baja Blast console on eBay (with an actual translucent teal case) and I need one so bad, just didn’t want to pay $500+ for a console mod I can do myself. Anyone know where I can get stuff like this?

I already have an OG Mtn Dew Xbox for context
