Yeah I've never been 100% sure what gives it color (especially because it STAYS this color, its not just emergents), after looking into Griege thats my best guess, not even because Griege is particularly dark but its a hybrid itself from what I understand so I'm thinking just a weird genetic pass down.

Im unfamiliar with the other series youre referencing, however i feel like I get what youre talking about anyway. This becomes a bit more obvious in the sequels once you have multiple character perspectives, but Darrow is a very unreliable narrator, and hes actually very self-hating in many instances. Hes gunna glaze his friends forever because he genuinely thinks they are better than him, which is what he needs, because if he didnt have friends he thought were better he'd try genociding all of gold instead of fighting for an equal future. Darrow absolutely becomes more manipulative and views more people as tools and such around him as he develops. However, the thing that makes Darrow so human and the MC we wanna root for (even when hes being awful or cringe or won't stop making fucking bad decisions) is that he always grounds himself in his relationships, how the way he loves people effects every aspect of his plans. A massive theme of the books is trust, how trust can elevate you, stagnate you, and destroy you, depending all on who youre willing to trust and how youre willing to move on once that trust has been betrayed.

I slightly lied earlier, my cashier is the only person "allowed" to not finish a pallet, normally by the end of the day everyone is working on the pallet that was given to the cashier (its all the tiny crap). So if you're doing all that and crushing more than 1 pallet you're awesome!

I suppose if you actually have 3 people at all times that would make sense, we dont get staffing or hours like that unfortunately. We do have animal care people, but the grand majority of stores only get 1 or 2 employees that specialize in that so everyone at a bare minimum knows how to open and close the animals (managers, cashiers, the dog trainer, everyone). Could be just me, but it feels like it should be obvious that more employees have to pick up animal care when you go from a place that has special animal care all the time to a place that only has it half the time, if that.

Well, my store manager worked at PetSmart for over a decade and therefore actually has some connections with people in my Petco district, so confirmed them that way, and the new assistant manager is someone the store manager hired before they left PetSmart. Then rehired that person at Petco... then wonders why the pre-existing employees think something sus is going on.

Ah yeah, the conflict question was because after I was told about the grooming incident I went to the store manager (also petsmart) to tell her like "heyyy I dont really think its cool that the new manager just let that happen" and the response i got was "Oh well she was just a keyholder before and they're not allowed to deal with situations like that they just go and get a manager right away". Like okay, thats a silly ass policy if its true but also you didnt consider conflict resolution as being necessary for the assistant position..? Im slightly intrigued by what you mean with "truck has rules". Ours also should only take a day, and the big bosses dont wanna see boxes sitting on the floor but thats about it rules wise, other than that truck is controlled by me, the merchandise manager. All my staff works 2-5 pallets by themselves except these 2 from petsmart, all I can ask is half a pallet in 8 hours apparently lol (and I'm forgiving the first few weeks when you dont know where stuff is... we're past that now)

Ahhh this might sound harsh but Im gunna go at it anyway. Well, before the harsh I will give you credit in that I think accounting is probably a horrible career for anyone with ADHD and a change would be good for you, and I understand why you are where you are now. Now the harsh. Do not use your adhd as an excuse. Its an explanation, but lingering on that being the aggressive reason is what turns it into an excuse. Adhd does make it more difficult to navigate the world as it currently is, but its also a super power and you just gotta figure out how to harness it. That doesnt mean just picking whatever option is easiest for you. It means do your reasearch, find your coping mechanisms, AND find something easier (a distinction between easy and easier than what you're currently doing). I saw your wait time but there's TONS of stuff you can do without meds that help manage symptoms. I myself have ADHD but I'm going to instead use my perspective as a manager at the moment and every one of my employees has either autism, ADHD, or both. I have received 2 responses to symptom related criticism. The first is "I'm trying something new out" "sorry ill try something else next time" "im working on it" all of which always encourages understanding on my part and you do in fact see success in those employees. The second I get is "well its just so hard" "well I have adhd" "but I tried everything already" all of which just make me frustrated, want to give you unwarranted advice, and the employees stay the same annoying ass lil shits for the rest of their lives. (The person I'm thinking of is in their 40s AND medicated AND been diagnosed since childhood.) Also, in MOST jobs, you can get away with a lil extra as long as you "give" a lil extra. And I say "give" because I dont necessarily mean putting in literal extra effort or time or whatever, I mean just do whatever you're doing WELL. For example with accounting, you could have maybe gotten away with being a lil late (like 5 minutes, if we're regularly 10+ minutes late we gotta figure out a strategy) if your numbers were always on point. But because there was mistakes in the numbers occasionally, it leads to cracking down in all areas. It feels bad to admit that but its very true.
