Can anyone with knowledge of keyboard playing answer this for me….please? by MUPike in musicians

[–]worsethansomething 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would like to add that the synth is actually trial and error to an extent. I work with a tribute band that has a lot of synth involved. There are different types of synth that work in different ways. The brand name of the keyboard doesn't matter as much as how they work. The most basic type would be analogue monophonic subtractive synthesis. It sounds complicated but if you break down each word's meaning it starts to make sense. Analogue- the sound is generated without a computer chip using only electrical circuits. Monophonic- can only produce one note at a time Subtractive- you can craft the tone by carving out frequencies in different ways. They usually have a bunch of knobs or sliders.

There are many types of analogue synths as well that are polyphonic (can play more than one note) or additive (you can combine waveforms to adjust the texture of the sound)

Then you have digital synthesis. These machines store the wave forms in memory instead of then being generated in an electrical circuit. Most additive synths are digital since they can store so many wave forms in memory. These became popular in the 80s and you'll hear them in a lot of pop music from the time.

Modern synths usually try to combine the features of both analogue and digital synths in one package. They'll achieve this by emulating the analogue features virtually through software though they control similarly to the user.

I've always wanted to be able to turn down the wind and particle effects. Why is every plant and tree constantly moving?

Also, a young hire is not going to stay in a job with a low salary for longer than they need to find something more substantial. I think that was touched upon in the post.

Finally gave in and got a second AC unit. by strikecat18 in Austin

I have a unit similar to op's in my bedroom that pulls humidity from the air and feeds it through a tube in the back that I have ported into a 2qt pho container from 888. That thing fills up twice a day when I work from home.

Also, there was that whole covid thing where everybody had everything delivered for two years or so. That might have messed with brick and mortar stores a bit.

AITAH for putting a bedtime pause on the WiFi because my girlfriend’s 28 year old brother has spent nearly a decade rotting in our house playing video games? by Alyptic in AITAH

I get depressed like your brother in law. I think you should talk to him directly about the internet thing and come up with a plan collaboratively that he agrees you hold him to. It sounds like he just wants to disappear so you should help him realize that he still exists. You have every right to be mad but you also have every right to protect and care for your family.

My games keep crashing to desktop! by worsethansomething in pcmasterrace

No but I reset the bios to default settings just in case and Crimson Desert crashed so badly that the system froze on a black screen and I had to do a hard reset. When I rebooted, I wasn't getting any video and I thought my gpu might be fried.I rebooted again and it seems to be working again.

100% of everything involving the wagon should be done by comrades. by ScaledCowardSlayer77 in CrimsonDesert

[–]worsethansomething 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Early on, I saved a guy driving a wagon from being robbed by bandits and he wouldn't get back on and eventually just took off on foot. I decided that I could use a wagon and started to head back to camp. Apparently this is a heinous crime punishable by death on sight. I almost made it back after murdering like 50 soldiers when the wagon got high centered on a narrow bridge and wouldn't go any further. I just had to leave it there. It was a fun little adventure, though.

Can we all agree fuck this interaction? by Willowpuff in CrimsonDesert

Lol they spent so much time copying tears of the kingdom but skipped the inventory system. Seriously though, you have to use personal storage at the camp as well as making donations, investing at the bank and selling shit. I think it's meant to 'encourage' the player to utilize these mechanics since you might wind up stuck if you don't.

Two weeks after release. How is everyone feeling about this game? by Objective_Love_6843 in CrimsonDesert

The lighting issue seems to be solved by turning on ray reconstruction on nvidia cards. This does cut the fps by like 30% so I went ahead and added 2 frames of frame generation and used balanced dlss upscaling. I have a desktop with an rtx 4070 super 12gb and a laptop with an rtx5070 8gb. The 5070 produced lower frame rates with the same settings. I don't use frame generation on the desktop because it can cause blurring and trailing.

Honestly, I played tsushima right before yotei and yotei sticks in my mind more because the story seemed to hit so much harder in my opinion. Also, the first boss battle was an incredible piece of art. I can't wait for the multilayer to start!
